I just noticed that my new 1,000 mile 992 base has an engine noise that begins at 1,600 RPM. At first I thought it was in the trans or somewhere in the drive train other than the motor. First noticed while slowly driving through a park in 2nd gear at very low speed with the windows down. I stopped the car and placed it in neutral. I then slowly incresed revs to 1,600 RPM where the metallic tapping began on my fully warmed up motor. The rapidity of the clicking increses as RPM rises. Past 2,300 revs the quiet non-sport exhaust is louder than the clicking. Windows must be down to hear it clearly. Not a knock, just a sound like a poorly adjusted valve on an old VW bug or old BMW boxer bike. Please say..."They all do that". Nearest dealer is a 150 mile drive. Thanks!
The clicking is coming from the MOTOR ONLY. Car is warmed up - in neutral and stopped, not driving. Not brakes, trans or anything else. Just the engine. Windows are down. Starts at 1600 RPM and increases to an increasingly rapid rate as it is slowly sped up to 2500 rpm or so at which point it cannot be heard due to the exhaust note from my non-sport exhaust covering it up. It is not loud at all but .......

Did you listen to the videos? Sounds exactly like the noise we hear. We hear it moving or not.

Does not sound at all like that. It is just a slow rhythmic tick....tick....tick at low revs (1600 rpm) and then as the revs slowly rise so does the ticking. I can't hear it with windows up. I'm not gonna worry about it. Barely noticeable anyway. Like others have said might be fuel pump, injectors, internal chains or whatever. I was just curious....
