Default Digital Speedometer Design

Hi guys i was looking through the forum and couldnt find anything about this subject. Was wondering if 2020/2021 models can get a software update so we have a normal looking speedometer gauge like the 2022 models? Does anyone know anything about that ? It would be great. Or maybe its just my car that has a little line thing indicating the speed? 🧐 Thanks

I think you should post some pictures. Not sure what you are referring to.

Maybe i have something wrong in the settings? The screen is black all around with a little line over the number Its odd.. thank you! (Actually watched a youtube video and apparently all cars have this speedometer design. The 992 for 2022 models on the wesite is now different and has a traditional looking design)

The center of my Speedometer is used to display different bits of information or it can be left blank. I set my 2021 C2S (see below) to show: Next Turn Navigation when Navigation is active -or- Current Street (unless in my garage) when Navigation is off, Cruise Control Set Speed and Following Distance. Check your owners manual for all of the options that are available. I suspect (although I could be wrong) that the 2022 Instrument Display is the same, it's just that the image that you saw is one with a different selection of what is and is not to be displayed.

I leave my speedometer in ACC mode. That way, it shows the speed of the car in front of me in a green arc. It can be highly entertaining.

Does anyone use the separate speedometer for speed? I pretty much just rely on the digital speedo on the tach.

Hardly ever. I only use it like Blue to show the current street or to see what cruise is set to.

Just to be sure, you know that it's a digital representation of a traditional analog dial, right? And the "little line" is a digital representation of a traditional speedometer's needle.

The "analog" speedometer on the car is completely unnecessary, given the clarity of the digital readout in the tachometer, and they could have used that real estate for other functions. I sometimes wonder why they have so much redundancy on the dash. If you have sports chrono, the time is displayed in three different places.

I hope a simple software update can fix it in the future

Meh. I think that the skeuomorphism here clashes with the physical tachometer.
I prefer using the middle of the display for the ACC stuff -- that's much more useful than a pretend needle that's giving you the same speed information found at the bottom of the tachometer.

Approximately zero percent chance there will be an update to earlier models.
