Leave me alone YouTube! Let me just make my decision on the S and move on!

Haha I know right? At least we get some great content on our beloved 992.

If I were not going to use the car to compete, there is no question in my mind the base is the way to go.

Light and simple was the mantra of Colin Chapman, who inspired Gordon Murray to do the same.
His follow up to the Mclaren F1, the T50, is certainly evidence of that.
There is a great video done by Top Gear of Gordon's car collection full of Abarths, Alfas, an Osca, and Lotuses and even a Honda S600 coupe, all underscoring his philosophy of light and simple.

The 992 base espouses that philosophy more than the rest of the line. Granted the Cayman does more so, but I am almost 6" 4" and that is a nonstarter for me.

Very compelling video indeed for the C2 argument. I have a C2SC on order but I must admit this makes you think twice.

Having said that, I think getting Sports Chrono and Sport Exhaust are a must on any model. Just not the same experience and one buys a 911 for the fun not just to go run errands, although they are a lot more fun with any 911 😉😀

100% agree! That video actually frustrated me more than anything, because of that.

We need a 992 Carrera T!

In the meantime, I will probably get a Manual Carrera 2 GTS and then complain it is too fast to be properly enjoyed on public roads.

I've had my C2S manual for almost three months now, and never once have I said, "This car is really a lot of fun to drive, but I just wish it had less power and torque". I'll never track my car, so I'm only on public roads. If one makes the argument that the S is too fast for the street, it is really splitting hairs to say that the Base isn't. The difference in 0-60 times is about 0.4 of a second-- about an eye blink.

This is my first toy car that isn’t a manual. I absolutely love the PDK. I don’t regret the PDK at all and the fact that a base PDK (especially with Sports Chrono) is quicker than a manual CS, kind of detracts from the allure of the CS.
I had 2 GT350’s, so I know that a manual can add to the driving enjoyment, but the PDK is next level stuff. Puts my TCU tuned dual clutch S3’s transmission to shame, and that was the best auto I’ve experienced to date.
