Default Advise re 992 GTS

Hi Folks

trying to order a 992 GTS. My first 911. I have 16 Macan turbo with 18 way seats.

looking to get some expert advise

have questions about the seats.

1- 4 way sport plus Race Tex ($0) vs 4 way leather ventilated ($840) vs 18 way with memory ($3300)

which should I go with, trying to keep cost under 150

2- also is front axle lift - is it highly/ moderately or not recommend

Thank you for the input

I have the 18-Way Ventilated Seats (100% Leather) with memory. To paraphrase a line from a Woody Allen movie; 'My A$$ and my Back are two of my most favorite body parts.' I really, Really. REALLY like these seats!

FAL depends on where you live and where you drive. I do not have it. I do have to watch the dips when entering/leaving parking lots, but nothing serious touches down, even when things do come into contact with the pavement. The only things I've had touch are the small plastic fender well scoops that extend below the floor pan of the car to direct air flow to the front brakes and once or twice the chin spoiler. It makes a really horrible noise when they do touch, but whatever damage is being done, I can't see it beyond a slightly rough bottom edge to these plastic pieces. FWIW these plastic pieces are fairly inexpensive and incredibly easy to replace. So I'm of a mind to consider them "maintenance" items.

1) No one can advise you seats. We don’t live in your body. Obviously one is cheaper than the other. If it’s comfortable and you don’t care about tilting mirrors and memory function, then go with that.

2) FAL - Depends on where you live. If you know how to drive a lowered car, then you’ll be fine in most cases.

Although most dealers have little to no inventory, there are now a fair number of 992’s on the road so surely finding cars with the different seats to sit in shouldn’t be difficult. I’ve posted this in the past but for the OP’s benefit I’ll do so again …

For the 992, my choice of seats is slightly different than in the 991.2. I’m 5’9” and 165 lbs (“athletic build”) and have always found that the 18 ways were best for me. The 992 seats are a little wider as well as the seat bottom felt a little shorter compared to the sport plus seats in the 991.2 With the 18 ways, narrowing the side bolsters made for a better fit and I also prefer a little more depth in the seat for thigh support. I would not buy a summer driven P-car without ventillated seats … the only time I didn’t use this option in my DD/ 4 season Targa was when I was driving on snow in the winter.

The 18way adaptive seats are worth every penny and will contribute to resale value as well. A GTS with basic 4ways isn’t worth the same as a GTS with 18ways. If I were to spec a GTS, I would go RWD Coupe with;

Manual 7Speed
GT silver
18 way adaptive seats
Slate Grey full leather with chalk deviated stitching
Premium pkg (with cooled seats)
Glass sunroof
extended range tank
ionizer

That would get me to right about $153k.

Re 1. Echoing the comments of others here, the 18 ways are the way to go. Ventilated is particularly welcome with the heat wave going across the country right now and the likelihood of such things in the forseeable future.
Re 2. I have more than 20k miles on my 992 C4S with SPASM and the standard front fascia. I don't have any issues with approach angles -- taken it through 15 states including urban and rural environments. That said, if you're doing the sport design front fascia OR you have a bad approach for your own driveway, it's something to consider, but it's by no means necessary. These aren't low cars like a Ferrari, Lambo, or McLaren.

If your driveway has a terrible approach, get some ramps. I had these ramps at the old house, because I wasn't allowed to modify how the driveway met the curb. If you are allowed to change that, do it -- worthy investment if you intend to own sporty cars. It was actually part of my decision matrix for our new house. LOL

Thank you so much for your input. I think I’ll let go of front axle lift system.

FAL is a must for me. It's a matter of need and preference. Good luck.

Another "I have option X, option X is great, much better than option Y" but I'll supply some balance to above. GTS 991.2 Coupe with KISS principle spec (SPASM, MT, solid roof, 5 lugs no RAS)

I have 4 way seats in the full leather package (and have spec'ed them on 3 new 2-door Porsches) because they are comfortable ,simple and relatively light. I set it once and I'm done. I have a marathoner body habitus though, not your typical overweight guy with a bad back.

I don't have FAL and never have needed it. I take speed bumps and curb cuts with care, andI would anyway because of the rims and suspension.
