Default Ordering 992GTS?

I have a deposit on a 992 GTS and am in the process of ordering my car.
my main question is do I order the four wheel steering or not?
A recent Autocar article on 992s indicated that they did not think the four wheel steering enhanced the handling.
Have any of you an opinion on this question and why?
Thanks

Get it. The GT cars have it. The GT designer or someone at Porsche said they would put it on every model if they could. It's faster on the track as far as I know. It makes daily driving easier in and out of parking lots. Ive had it and not had it on a 992 and I will never not have it again. I noticed a difference just daily driving it.

I prefer natural driving characteristics. I can understand those that like it, but it comes off more like a parlor trick used to shave a few seconds off ‘ring lap times. It’s more of a ‘been there done that’ spec for me. So if you haven’t had it. I say give it a go & see if you like it.

Congrats on the GTS order! I’m curious, do you have an allocation? What is your freeze date and production date? I’m wondering if I should switch from C2S to GTS but worried about the additional delay. Thanks!

I have had a deposit on the GTS for six months or so.
I don’t know what the allocation is yet, but the dealer seems to be accepting my order, but that is not confirmed.

I have a deposit on an allocation to spec a 992 gts as well. No clear date just yet. Looking forward to seeing everyone's builds.

991.1 Guy is right.

RAS, PASM vs SPASM, PDK vs. MT, leather vs. standard, the list goes on. Everyone has an opinion and we're all right

Light-weight battery alone which comes with RAS worth it

There is very little downside, but it does add some complexity. Steering feel is not affected. Low speed turns the effect of RAS is very obvious - the car feels like it is rotating from the center. Higher speeds, it's harder to tell. The characteristics of RAS change at higher speed to increase stability.

The point about GT cars having it is a valid one - Porsche thinks highly of the system and they don't just put stuff in the GT cars unless there is a good reason.

I have RAS in my C2S but I did not get PDCC. I personally wonder how a bare bones 992 compared to a RAS/PDCC car would compare. The TTS I'm getting will have both standard and I'll be interested to see. Part of me wonders if you are going with one cheat code technology, maybe go for the whole enchilada or nothing at all.

I looked hard at the actual specs of RAS when I spec'ed my 991.2 GTS (without RAS)

RAS reduces turning radius by about 1 foot out of 36 feet, and only at speeds below 31 mph, and not even that as you approach 31 mph. I don't take turns under 30 mph outside of parking lots, urban traffic etc, and I don't have issues parking.
RAS doesn't start to operate again until above 50mph to simulate a longer wheelbase, and therefore improve stability. As if my 911 isn't stable in the lower triple digits! And it's tough to go faster than that and stay out of jail .

You have to ask yourself do you really want a lot of options (AWD, PDCC PDK RAS etc) that make your 911 even easier to drive fast, when even a base spec GTS is the stupid fast. Unless lap times are you're priority. Just think what is really going to be the most fun and engaging for your style of driving and your road conditions.
