Default Thoughts on 2023 changes/additions

Would like to some perspective from all you respected professional crystal ballers.....Seems fair to say that the GTS release came sooner than most suspected here.
I still think 2022 is to soon for a 992.2 but they are seemingly speeding up new model deployment so maybe the old schedules are off.
What will the April 2022 annoucement about 2023 models entail?

I have an Fall 2021 allocation request/spring 2022 build for a C4. (modest deposit with my local dealer)
I will never see a track and will use car as 3rd DD around my suburban town. On low end, I was thinking simple C4 optioned to around $132K. Ive toyed with a C4S for around $142K.
Was thinking if I needed more go, Id tune the C4 car for about $3K.
A GTS4 for around $155K seems to really compress the attraction of my build but I really have no interest in such a sporty ride.

If I take delivery march/April 2022 then they announce a few weeks later the C gets a performance boost, it could be a bit depleting...

So whats everyones thinking Porsche will do with engine output across the line-up on the 2023s?

I wouldn’t be expecting much in terms of a combustion engine power increase. Heck, the new GT3 basically makes the same power as the old one.

If the .2 generation makes more power, it will be due to the addition of an electric motor — a PHEV/Hybrid 911 is a very likely scenario.

VAG is throwing all of their resources at EV development. You’ve seen this in Audi’s recent announcement. Porsche dealerships are being remodeled for an EV heavy future.

if you wait for the updates , it will be a never ending game
2023 models will be announced 4/22 and probably will arrive the end of the year
then you can say model year 2024 is around the corner and might/will be the 992.2 , so let me get the mid cycle refresh which is usually the biggest change year to year
so , it will be a never ending game
my philosophy is change cars as frequently as you can

Nothing will change on the Carrera power train until the 992.2 comes out. I’d suggest (maybe) MY2024 for that one. Hard to know for sure.

Get what you can now and upgrade down the road, if you want to. These cars have good resale.

The never ending guessing game. Buy/keep yours for 1 year, then trade/sell it for MY2023 😄

I bet the hybrid models will be 2023. Product roadmap seems to uphold the theory.

The current cars are plenty fast enough for the street. As someone else here says on a regular basis, buy the car and not the deal. Same goes for model years. Buy what you want when it suits you, not when it suits Porsche.

If you wait for the 2023, then when it comes out, you'll wonder if you should wait for the 2024 or the 992.2.

When will it ever end?

Bingo…YOLO…buy a 2020 if you have to just to experience the 992…then upgrade when you want to custom order and won’t have to wait an eternity. I live in the DC area and the closest brand new 992 available is 89 miles away in Delaware…just insane. There are literally 8 Porsche dealerships in the DC/Baltimore area (45 miles radius) and NONE of them have any new 992’s in stock.

I just have an observation / comment about “car will never see a track”. When I ordered my 992 (Feb 2020 delivery), I didn’t anticipate tracking the car, I baby my cars. I happen to have a great track (Area 27, designed by Jacques Villeneuve) about a 4.5 hour drive away. I have since taken my car twice and it is the most fun I’ve had with the car. These cars come alive above 7k rpm, something you cannot experience on public roads. I am so happy I got to experience this, the car was engineered and built for it.

I think you point is fair and echoed in others above...what got me pndering was the seemingly "early" release of the GTS thus is P fast tracking releases and updates vs the past?
Reading the about the GTS closer, I see that they have removed sound deading insulation which kills any interest for me and my driving perspective.
thanks for insights.

this was not necessarily an "early" release- Porsche has been testing the GTS since 2020 and was supposed to release Q1 2021. Our collective mind at RL thought that it would release much later because of semiconductor shortage and lack of allocations for other 911 models.

One thing for sure there will be an 8-12% price increase. dollar is weaker and getting weaker by the day.
