Default PSE too quiet? Don't think so.

PSE on my C4 has always sounded sweet to my ears, but as the miles add up (car now has almost 20,000 km) it seems to get throatier. This clip switches back and forth between PSE and standard exhaust using the dash button. The car is in my parking garage with the driver's side door open.

For those who don't have ready access to the real thing, this seems like a fairly accurate depiction of how the (my PSE) exhaust sounds: PSE ON vs PSE OFF. Being in a Parking Garage does add a bit to the tone, but not a disqualifier IMHO.

lol. Was just thinking while driving home how great PSE sounds and thought why not do a phone video and post for folks not sure if Sport Exhaust has enough "kick" for them. None of the videos I've seen shot at the rear of the car do the PSE sound justice.

I can confirm that with 20k miles on the clock, the sound just gets better and better.

Yep...sometime in July. We're looking to head SOUTH into Montana, Oregon and Washington when the border opens up again.

Honestly that sounds pretty lame, especially since you are in a garage and have to open the car door. I'm sure my 991.2 GTS sounds better than that, and I know that my 718 sounds louder ( but maybe not better!)

I mainly hear the crickets and the whistle when you switch to PSE on. Least we know you have that too! But yes, can hear the difference.

I can hear the difference very clearly in my garage with the windows down-- but on the road, I am having a hard time noticing the difference when I toggle PSE on and off. I was starting to think that maybe my exhaust flaps aren't opening fully, but if I can hear the deeper tone in my driveway, the hardware is probably working as designed. Do others hear a clear difference at, say, 3000-4000 rpm on the road? If the answer is "definitely", then I'll have to take the car in for service.

How it sounds will be heavily dependent on what device you use to listen to the video. On my 2020 iMac and my new iPhone 12 it sounds pretty fine; significant difference between PSE on and PSE off. On my trusty old A1567 iPad Air (from 2014) I can hardly hear the difference…lame sounding is being kind lol.

Been itching for over 10 years to get up to Inuvik; got three spare tires for the Treg and a couple for the Keystone not to mention enough spares to rebuild the V8. However given uncertainty and halibut fishing calling around that time might have to defer it (again)!

Safe travels!

For anyone who wants to hear a difference, it’s best heard in the cabriolet with the top open. Deeper, throatier, and louder. “Normal” mode is useless and I think driving with PSE closed should be criminal. I almost never drive with the top closed because you really can’t hear much driving that way.

Im only at 4700 miles or so so I have a ways to go, but I am still considering getting a new catback exhaust, although I’m not in any hurry.

At 6200 miles, the PSE exhaust definitely is louder and the tone improved substantially vs when I first got the car. I was originally thinking of getting an exhaust (had an AWE Switchpath on my 991.2 4S and GTS) but I’m not anymore.

PSE is weak in the 992, I have it, and it was NOTHING like the Tubi exhaust I had on my 991.1. If you want tone, skip this and buy an engineered cat-back exhaust.
