It does seem like cars have been showing up on a regular basis now and they have made some adjustments in the supply chain to keep things rolling. So supply is slowly returning. However, most inventory is going to be pre-sold orders.

Food for thought, things may start to level off in the next few months provided no other calamities:

It isn't surprising capacity is increasing so "cautiously optimistic the worst may be over and "the outlook is improving" aren't really revelations. Analysts.

A friend in Dallas pre-ordered the first Dallas Ford GT in 2004, with a cash deposit. The staff at the dealership ridiculed him at the time (for the cash deposit) as they had no advance knowledge of the car and its appeal. Regardless, my friend gave them the deposit and executed a legal memorandum of understanding.

By the time the car arrived a year-or-so later, the dealership had changed hands and the new one knew the car and its appeal. So, they reneged and raised the price.

My friend took them to court/ arbitration. Dealer ended up splitting the difference between the then-current FMV and the original order price. My friend ended up foregoing the car and walking away with something around $25K. His quote: “the most money I ever made from selling a car which I didn’t own.”

Moral of the story: supplement your pre-order with an MOU (or equivalent) in addition to dealer’s standard paperwork and T&C (which are defined to protect THEM), including provisions for change of ownership, restructuring, etc.

I was at my local dealership yesterday and there were just three cars in the showroom - normally they have room for 12-13. The parking lot was filled with a lot of BMWs and Audis (presumably trade-ins) and there were just a couple Porsches (with window stickers that is). There were some obvious customer-owned Porsches I assume were in for service and another couple cars that looked like fresh-off-the-transport deliveries, but I expect those are already sold. I've never seen it like this before.

Yes predictions and best guesses are 4th Qtr 2021 or likely Q1 2022 maybe as the rest of the world catches up to the US in terms of economy, COVID19 vaccinations, and both local and global supply chains normalize.

My dealership had a bunch of cars in the lot and showroom. All were Taycan, Macans, and/or Cayennes though. Only one 992 and one Cayman. No Boxsters so yes production is still flowing I think but not in the way those who want a pre-ordered 911 would like/wish. If you didn't jump on a car earlier then currently for at least the next 6 mos you're at the mercy it seems of the dealership and current market inventory/supply demand and the rest of the crazineess out there for those trying to secure a car.

Well, if they try that with me, the order will be cancelled.

I did not pay ADM for my order. Did they try pretty hard to upsell me on a bunch of add-ons? Yes, but I said no.

Best kill ratio of the Vietnam war. Great jet, but unforgiving 'round the back end of the boat.

I was listening to an interview with Turkey Tucker. Mind blown.

And before anyone says this is off topic - I see a direct correlation between Porsches and jets.

I served with Turkey in VF-191. His no ordnance expended kill is a great story. Yes, there is a similarity between flying high performance aircraft and driving high performance cars.

Stoped by to see my SA this weekend to see about my July allocation (deposit was put down 5 weeks ago for MSRP) and they are now charging $15K ADM for base and S models. Charging $50K ADM for GT3. They are honoring my MSRP July allocation. My SA was not happy with the ADM policy, he was worried about short term gain vs customer loyalty. He had a previous buyer of 8 Porsches from him walk out of the dealership in frustration over the $15K ADM. The ADM on new 911’s may really hurt the dealerships in the long run.

I'm surprised they didn't drop the ADM for the loyalty customer. I can totally see them charging ADM for new off the street buyers but not charging it, or lowering it to a more palatable figure for repeat customers.
