Why the heck is the carbon fiber interior package $3970 with the GTS int package vs. $840 with the full leather?

No ADM. Everyone here is getting it at MSRP. The Porsche wait is nothing compared to Ferrari. I ordered an F8 Spider in 08/20 and hoping it comes 11 or 12/21.

I am pretty sure that this is the current "maximum build" possible through the configurator.
You forgot the carbon fiber owner's manual wallet.

Question for me is SHOULD I add the gloss back package ( you get ALOT for a good price ).
  • Front fascia partially painted in High Gloss Black
  • SportDesign Side Skirts in High Gloss Black
  • 20"/21" 911 Turbo S Wheels in High Gloss Black
  • Exterior mirrors in High Gloss Black
  • Rear fascia partially in High Gloss Black
  • Rear deck lid slat inlays in High Gloss Black

Also, I keep going back and forth with the AEROKIT option as well, even better looking in Gloss Black. I know some Porsche junkies will poke fun at the AEROKIT but I just think those are the guys that option their 992 in Agate Grey with Slate Interior.. BORING. (My 2018 911.2 was Agate Grey so I am allowed to talk sh*t).

I miss PORSCHE, so here it begins again. Deposit is in, waiting on allocation for Carrera GTS 2WD in Shark Blue. In terms of the configuration for the 992 GTS, here are 20 opinions from my experience owning and driving around in some friend's wildly optioned 911s:
  1. Get the 2WD when you can, more engaging and nimble.
  2. The glass roof let's light in, the steel doesn't unless it's open. Pick your poison. Both help you hear the PSE. No roof makes the cabin seem smaller and doesn't improved rigidity as much as you may think.
  3. Get a color that you love, resell value aside, it is your car and should reflect your personality.
  4. Stick with the standard leather, the $8,920 GTS interior brings in the overpriced carbon fiber and way too much money for what you get.
  5. No carbon fiber, just boycotting it. Unless I ever get a GT2/3 RS. Then, it's part of the "image".
  6. Stay away from the ventilated seats, they make the seat more firm on your *** and adds more weight
  7. Sport Seat 4 way is the way to go
  8. No need for premium package on the GTS, just add the ambient Lighting and the Bose separately. This is a 911 not S Class, you don't need surround view, or lane change assist. Drive the car.
  9. Folding mirrors add weight and look silly when up.
  10. Vinyl stickers are a personal preference, do as you wish but know that it may be cheaper to do at a detail shop.
  11. The paint protection is done third party for OEM anyways, just get the car and have a local detail shop do it for you, if you have a good shop near you.
  12. Black Stone guards take away from the lines of the car, not a fan. Also, no need for a fire extinguisher, only when you have a roll cage in my opinion.
  13. You shouldn't need an extended fuel tanks nor anything else in the performance section other than front axle lift... get that on every GTS, will be needed and much desired when reselling.
  14. The brakes and suspension is tuned specifically for this car and with larger Turbo brakes, I'm not going to spend 9K on PCCB.
  15. PDCC, Rear Wheel Steering, and Power Steering plus is truly not needed. The car is well built as is. Power steering if you drive in a tight packing garage maybe... PDCC and RWS if you are a weekly track nut.
  16. Not sure what Illuminated Lateral Gills on Taillights is but i think it makes it look like the GT3 side LED in the rear. Any ideas???
  17. Interior Trim Inlays in Leather helps to fill in the gaps in the interior plastics and add's a nice light silver trim to lighten up the interior. and it's FREE
  18. Last but not least, I added Silver Seat Belts and White Tach and Chrono to add more lighter contrast to the black interior.
  19. Delivery Experience.. Go for it if this is your first build!
  20. Ohh and don't do the Storage Package or Smoking Package, just because they are free doesn't mean they are needed. Most higher end spec's I've seen over the years don't option either.

The Aerokit I like but I'm on the fence. ANY FEEDBACK or counter arguments on the above 20 statements? Thanks!
Great build! I currently have 911 992 Carerra, which I purchased slightly used but it's specced really nicely. This was my first Porsche and I fell in love. After going to a few car meets I realized that it needed a few mods to make it a little more aggressive. So instead of spending 20k on insanely overpriced aftermarket parts, I opted to build one out with a vision that I had in mind. Just put my order in the other day, but it may take a year or so until I receive it.

That said, my build is somewhat similar: http://www.porsche-code.com/PNE2GLI2 . I think the Aero kit for 2k is an absolute steal and is a must have! Also, I'm one of those dudes that raises his spoiler every time he drives So why not just get an affixed, more pronounced wing? Plus, Aero kit along with the CL wheels takes the GTS look to a whole new level, in my opinion. That look is more reminiscent of a GT3 or a Turbo S vs. Carrera and Carrera S (my SA pretty much said the same). Add some decals and GTS has more of a "wow" factor of a supercar that it is. Please share photos once you receive your car!

Love it, except the burgundy interior. I feel like that takes away from the sportiness. Black would work better imo.

Thank you! That's the exact interior that I have in my Carrera currently (Burgundy). It looks much better in real life than pictures. Black leather interior was my 2nd option, but given that I already have an M3 in full black, I wanted something different. Thanks for sharing though!

you don't need FAL unless your driveway tells you so, and as you said it adds weight

Stone guards actually work/ that area gets beat up from debris. ….

buy them Suncoast Porsche for $50.

I like the way they look.

Surround view does help avoid front end damage.

the lift is a real waste of money- every car with the lift still has damage to the front lower edges anyway.

with the lift you don’t get yourself trained to go in and out of driveways carefully- sideways so one wheel leaves the driveway first. And with the lift you forget to push the button. Also adds weight more than side mirror motors.

I have three Porsches - all new - and I just go slow and at an angle on driveways- the lift is just unnecessary.

You bring up a good point. My next door neighbor has a 992 4S with FAL. I’ve literally seen him scrape coming out of his “kink-free” driveway. He’s scraped his front lip several times and says FAL is a must. I replaced his front trim for him after he scraped it badly (he isn’t good with tools). My GTS is lower than his 4S, and my Spyder is lower still. I’ve never scraped either, and I drive faster than him (and autocross). I’m just careful and aware of my surroundings while he is oblivious.

I wonder what in the OPs experience caused him to recommend not getting the extended range fuel tank (#13)?

Agreed. If I wasn't getting a C4 (where the extended range tank is unavailable), it would be a must-have for me. Maybe small bladder?
