iPad On the Dash
Who else detests this design trend? It makes the infotainment system look like an afterthought and strikes me as lazy engineering. I confess that this has been a factor in my latest vehicle purchases.
Thank you Porsche for avoiding this aesthetic atrocity, even if you tend to lag others in the software dept.

Personally, I think that German cars, all of them, on the whole, have the most desirable interiors. Love the interior of my M4, and about the only thing I miss from my M4, on my 992, is the heads up display.

The "iPad on the dash" infotainment integration is done for ease of replacement and future upgrades.

Let's not kid ourselves, even Porsche is not immune.
In fact Porsche infotainment needs serious stepping up, we're just accepting it because we love the brand and everything else it represents.
The correct way is to do it the Gordon Murray way with the T050 hypercar = no rubbish screens, no rubbish navi, everything just hooks up to your phone and works off your phone.

As I sit here at my home office with a 34" monitor in front of me and a 27 inch to my right... I am ok with this trend, and if you really want to be honest - get use to it, as it will all trend this way.. More data, information, entertainment, etc. You have seen nothing yet.
Not saying I still do not love my analog cars, but if you seriously do not think that is where every car will be in the next 3-5 years. Better buy something an hang on to it. As this is what you will have from this point on...

A GT4 for me . I know, heresy in the 992 section, but I'm doing it . Possibly my last ever ICE car unless I have a visitation and go mad and get something classic like 964 .

Nothing attractive about this...it really looks like an after-thought addition, rather than something that was an integral part of the cabin’s design. But I see why Musk’s designers did this...it’s cheaper, easier and much quicker to manufacturer than having to fit a built in screen, and associated buttons around the screen ..into the dash.
