I did a rating scale. 0-10

STock porsche sport exhaust aka PSE = 5 cold start.

stock PSE with sport cats = 6.5.

akra with stock cats = 7

akra with sport cats 12+++++++
Well.

I found my way here because I put in the 200cel JCR iconel cats... and then put the sharkwerks pipes on top of it.

The cold start is catastrophically loud. Like the 12+++++.
I'm not sure I can sustain this level of noise every time the car starts up.

Once the car is calmed down, its much much better. Infact, I LOVE the way it sounds about town. Kind of the way it should.
I was looking into valved downpipes, but my understanding is that unless you reprogram the cold start - there's not much you can do about the level of noise coming out.

I thought the valves don't work on the cold start?
That actually isn't the exhaust, it's the software programming doing that by keeping the valves and wastegates open with the revs up considerably. If you'd like to reduce the cold start intensity, we can accomplish this with ECU tuning. With tuning we can also fully control the valves to stay open when the PSE button is pressed instead of opening partially through the rpm range, and some other options as well. Feel free to give me a ring to discuss in depth any time at 4848836197

Ah got it, was hoping to not mess with the ECU tuning (bolt on, bolt off )

Based on what I’m reading in this thread, I can’t wait to hear the startup when I get my Soul Competition Exhaust and bypass pipes install. Granted….I live in the country.

Curious to see how much louder it is than the Akrapovic or if it’s pretty much right in line.

I already have an F-150 with straight exhaust, so I’m not sure it could get any worse.

Are your headers currently in stock or is there a pretty long wait until production starts?

Production is continuous, it's just a matter of building the systems in the order of which they were placed to be fair to everyone. We do like to do the headers in batch runs, so there is a very high chance those could ship out around the same time as the rest of your exhaust system

Here’s my scale. 0-10

PSE= 5
PSE cold start =6
pse w soul = 6.5
pse/souls cold start 7.5.

arka and soul 8

atka and soul cold start 12!!!!!!!

LOL! It’s sooo loud!
Hey Bigworm! Sorry to bump a very old thread (I don't have PM privileges yet). Wondering if you could do it all over again which one you would go for?

Akra + Stock Cat
or
PSE + Soul Cats

I've heard a lot of times that the Soul Cats produces more turbo whistles. But I'm probably more interested in a deeper & nicer sounding tone all around like even in lower rpms / idle. Seems like the Akra will do that but does the Soul Cats (w/ PSE) do that as well? A big seller for me also is the valve working on PSE comparative to the Akra as you mentioned it doesn't really tone it down and having the characteristic switch is important to me.

Appreciate any insight you can provide me!

I should mention a nicer throatier sound is more important to me than just being "louder"

Hi Tyler,

It's been awhile since Ive had my 992. So my memory might be a little off. But this is what I remember.

PSE with soul cats was a deeper idle with LOTS of whistle (especially if you get drop in filters). But it was not THAT much louder than PSE alone. Maybe 5-10% at most.

The Arka with stock cats seemed to make much more sound in the mid to top end. Much MORE. It screams when you are on the gas. But it also changed the idle down low too. I just seem to think the sport cats were a deeper sound.

Looking back, Im not sure which one I liked more to be honest. I like a good sounding deep idle more than a screaming exhaust. But I felt sports cats on the 992 didn't help THAT (at least not like they did on the 991.2 911's). It helped, but it wasnt like oh. THis is a hard one to answer. I liked the PSE with sport cats. But If I did this again, I would probably skip the sport cats and do the Arka. Especially if I had a 21 or up which seems to trigger a CEL with sport cats now.

No. Because they are floating tips. The tips in the bumper do not actually touch the exhaust outlets. They are right in front of them floating in the air attached to the bumper.

Thanks

Can I keep the stock black tips on my GTS if I opt for the Akra slip on?

I think so, but I am not 100% sure. I used the Akra tips when I had it.

I have fabspeed catless downpipes with PSE. Interested in changing to Akra exhaust. Do you think that will sound great?
