I got stopped by the Troopers a couple of weeks ago in my RS5 and after checking my plates he asked "can you tell me where exactly you were speeding to at WARPxx?" He actually was coming the opposite way on the highway and turned around to chat... Goes to prove Troopers have good taste here
Given the atrocious back window on the Macan which is a magnet for every piece of dust in the universe, I wasn't taking a chance. I know it breaks the line but I need functionality over aerodynamics. Thank you for your post, it will be a long 2 weeks or so before I see her. And it's still snowing (another 4 inches) got to get Olga going...

Let us know how it goes, but the rear window on the 911 is nowhere close to as troublesome as the rear window of the Macan (which I agree is a magnet for dust in this universe as well as many parallel universes). The 911 aerodynamics are very different.
You're obviously nowhere near as far North as I'm at but from the general feedback and since there are no Nokian, it's between Pirelli Sotto Zero or Michelin Alpin 5. As an outsider there are the Vreds which might perform well in your latitudes but definitely not a deep winter tire. Keep us posted on your choice as others closer to you might be interested. FWIW, it's still snowing here...will be firing up Olga soon.

Congrats for the soon-to-arrive gem of a car! I fully agree with your choice of leaving out the red tach and chrono dials with the red stitching. Full disclosure: my earlier 991.2 C4S was a Guards Red with black leather and red deviated stitching (and no red dials either). However, the 992 wears the color so damn well (even better than 991.2).
FWIW, I've now driven through the "notorious" Finnish winter with my 992 C2S running on the 19/20'' Conti WinterContacts and I've been more than satisfied with them. I had the Michelin Alpin 5:s in one of my previous cars and Conti WinterContacts again in the car before that (both RWDs too). Both of those two tire options are perfectly fine IMO (wouldn't even consider the Pirellis though) and have been developed a great deal in their latest incarnations compared to the non-studded tire choices available on the market for similar cars some 5 years ago.. Supposing that I'd need to make the decision again, I might lean slightly towards the Contis...

Thank you for sharing your experience. I was pained to find out that a premier rallye tire maker like Nokian didn't make anything for the 992 and non of the choices I read offered studs. I must say I didn't consider Contis in my short list and ended up with the Michelin Alpin 5. Mine is a 4S with RAS so am definitely keen on trying them out. I don't hold out much hope for the new "WET" drive mode since we don't have that much rain here between summer and 3 feet of snow. The latter incapacitating the system as the sensors will be totally full of snow. But the wait is..."trying"...
Damn dude... I too assumed you've been driving a 992. That looks great. Mine is a 2S GT silver, but got the same guards red tach and sport chrono (and belts) to match the big reds. Wife wouldn't let me go full-in GR. Those first drives, even at sub 4k revs, are always the most enjoyable! Have fun.
And also thank all of of you who helped with the myriad questions I had as I tried to firm up a build. If the permutations are near endless your advice helped clear the fog and lighten my wallet!
A last mostly unencumbered one. I was trying the get the SA to get a full picture of her alone, but this is as best as he got. I'll wait for the shipping company to hopefully furnish some better ones. Speaking of which, and as the British FO is fond of saying, "I'm cautiously optimistic" that she will depart CT for the 4,770 mile trip home Monday or Tuesday next week. Should hear about an ETA soon!

Siberian, that is FANTASTIC C4S and I know you will love it! Sorry for being slow in posting Congrats but my house took a direct lightning strike Saturday evening and I am only now getting Internet back. It damaged a lot of personal equipment and the internet service all the way down to the road.

No one was hurt (and NO fire) which is the most important part. As to damages, who knows? I lost quite a bit of electronic devices (one of my heat pumps, sub-woofer, power recliners, alarm system, nice HF ham radio rig / misc equipment, WiFi access point, power bricks, hubs, etc. etc.). The strike hit the house on one end and literally traveled through to the other end, out to the Internet pole in neighbor's yard and then down to the equipment on the main road). It even fried some of my neighbor's equipment without taking a direct hit! It literally shook the house. This is going to be a long process and trying to get in multiple contractors plus insurance is a bigger deal than I thought but I will get there.
Only got on forum to take a short break, while nobody else (contractors) are here. Thanks for asking.
