Are you able to just tip the attendant and ask if you can pump it yourself? The idea of some kid pumping my gas makes my OCD flare up.

I feel Porsche missed an opportunity here. The standard black cap goes perfectly with the rest of the black plastic on my GTS. Free of charge. I had to pay big bucks to black out the brake calipers.

I actually feel like they pulled a fast one on us to sell more of these. On my last two cars I never felt like the gas caps needed replacing. This new one though feels incredibly cheap and for the first time I'm kicking around the idea of buying one of the fake metal ones. The amount they charge for them is ludicrous, but I know I'm going to think about it every time I fill the tank and open the Alibaba nonsense on there now.

It is ridiculous - the OEM cap is so cheap. I guess they wanted to lower the weight of the 911 every way possible. :-P So I bit the bullet and got this one - a pleasure to look at every time I fill her up.

I have the Aluminum look on my 2008 Boxster S, I think I bought it from Suncoast. The lanyard broke after some years and I got another from Pelican. Pelican lanyard is stiffer but works well.
Regarding lanyard pin there are two types, the original has a smaller pin that can be pushed in to make removal easy the newer one in just held by friction.
My real question related to my C8 Stingray it has no cap at all but a door like valve in the filler inlet that is very convenient. Why does Porsche still use caps? Is there an advantage? In configuring my 992 TTS there is a no cost option to get Exclusive Design Fuel Cap 2WS at no cost, I was hopping that if you did not opt for this you would instead get the C8 style. Anyone know?
