Diamond button for Homelink
I've done a search and I am starting to feel stupid. My question is may I assign the diamond button to activate my garage open with just a push. Currently when I push it pulls up the homeline profile screen and I have to select home on the touch screen and then the garage opens and closes. What I would like is push the button and the door opens and closes. Is that possible?

For me, I find it works best with just having the double-wide Homelink button on my Homescreen. It will show the right profile when I am nearby and makes it a one touch affair.

Yep, that's the common scenario. That and entering the garage, having surround pop up automatically, and then needing three presses to close the door. Made worse if the PCM has not fully booted so the diamond buttons don't work. Sometimes I feel like a 747 pilot doing some sort of shutdown procedure.

In that vein, I'm surprised they don't have the option to set the diamond button to make those pesky door handles pop out. If they did that I could park with my windows open and really simplify the current process of, uh, opening the door - I'd be able to get it down to three simple steps!

I keep pressing the diamond button hoping the entertainment system will start playing Shilo or Sweet Caroline...but nothing happens.

It's my belief that when a system can be designed with X number of components a German engineer will employ X+N number of components, where N represents the next prime number greater than X.

What I don’t like is when backing out of the garage the rear view camera is on which is what we want but I can’t get to Homelink to shut the door until I am moving forward and rear camera turns off. Any suggestions on how to get a home link to come up while I am backing out so I can close the garage door before I get too far alway?

I bought this "Tailwind" system. I love it.
I press the button on the wall as I walk to the car and the garage door opens. -or- I can tell Alexa to open the garage door. -or- I can use the Tailwind app on my phone to open the garage door. No matter which way I choose they all work just fine.
I get in the car and drive away. This Tailwind system automatically closes the door when I'm 250 feet from my house. (You can adjust this distance.)
As I return, the Tailwind system automatically opens the garage door as I approach the house. (You can adjust this distance separately. I set mine to 200 feet)
When I pull into the garage I can press the "HOME" icon that the Porsche HomeLink system automatically provides on the PCM (FWIW this is the ONLY time the HomeLink function has any value IMHO.) -or- I can press the button on the wall as I walk out of the garage. -or- I can tell Alexa to close the garage door -or- I can use the Tailwind app on my phone to close the garage door.
Lastly, my garage door opens and closes for my Porsche and my wife's garage door opens and closes for her BMW. Nice!
Here is an excellent YouTube Video Review:
