I did say at 70 it would be my last car as that's what TOWMBO said it was.
I've owned 356SC, 911 Targa, VW Westphalia (reason I mention it is that I used to swap the 2.2L 911T engine with the 1600cc VDub when we went camping) and though my 68 Roadruner 383 hugely modified (low 12s) remains my first girlfriend, I've loved Porsche my entire life, though was never able to afford one new until now.
Great choice of color, didn't work for me as it's too dark for our 9 months of the year. I would insist on leather only if you plan to take your dog(s) for a ride as they're easier to keep clean. FAL depends on where you live (definite plus for me), PDLS+, as well as blind spot monitoring, heated steering (depends on where you live), don't waste money on Burmeister (the car is the infotainment), 14 way seats are good as the 18 for some makes it harder to get in/out (or as some say fall out). Keep the side skirts, it balances the look of the car. ACC? HUD? Nah. My only comment on the PDK vs manual is that I wanted the manual but TOWMBO asked: would I really still be willing to press a clutch in 6 years time? Good thought so with that in mind and since you can just drive it as a manual anyway is why I finally settled on the PDK.
But most of all enjoy it YEAR ROUND. Don't run and hide it at the first sign of clouds or rain!
Wishing you the best from 65 North
Rock on!

I’ll be 75 next month. Just picked up my 992 manual transmission last Friday. My 12th Porsche 41st car. This build is a drivers car manual transmission sport suspension sports seats sport steering wheel .I wanted something more driver friendly than my GT4 or the Gt3 or Gt2 that I’ve had in the past, but still fun.I’m only doing a few track days year now.. I guess I’m getting soft in my old age.! Carl

Others have mentioned the ACC. You say you live in Northern California, but you don't say where. It's a big place with lots of freeways with lots of traffic, even if you live in the middle of the Central Valley or in Mendocino County. At one time I couldn't understand why anyone would want or need a car with Cruise Control. Then I had a car with Cruise Control. After my experience (late 1970's) I absolutely felt that Cruise Control was a "must have" option. A few years ago we (my wife) bought a car that had ACC. After getting over a bit of nervousness (trust issues) I've come to the same conclusion regarding ACC that I did long ago about traditional Cruise Control. ACC is now a must have option! It doesn't matter if it's L.A. Freeway traffic or CA-99 between Bakersfield and Fresno at midnight, I really like it and at this point, I wouldn't buy a car that didn't have it.

I like the look of your original build. Classy, but at the same time modern/sporty without the chrome window trim (subjective I know). ACC for safety yes, for highway cruising, I hardly use it on my Macan. I don't like the feel of the car in front of me affecting my throttle inputs. I can't imagine ever using it on a 911.

Hello,
Really like your 992 build including the silver wheels.
You may want to consider ordering the Option of Window Trim in Silver ($400 cost). This is definitely a personal decision and in my view enhances the classic 911 roof line. See the configuration rendering that follows. Attached is a photo of my Cayman S in Chalk with both silver finished wheels and silver window trim.

I’ve enjoyed owning two 356’s, a ‘56 and ‘65 and also a 1990 Carrera 2. Please take a look at my proposed build and any feedback would be appreciated. I believe that the base has plenty of power, and my wife will be driving it so going with the PDK. We’ve seldom opened the sunroof on our other cars, so intentionally left off of the build. TIA

Congrats on the build, it’s a really nice Carrera Spec. Love the exterior / interior color combination and agree that the addition of the silver window trim brings out the classic 911 silhouette even more.
Wishing you the best with your build and ownership experience.

If you do very much driving on freeways consider ACC, even on short drives on a freeway I activate mine and it gives me a sense of comfort. I especially like it if I am in stop and go traffic. It will station keep on the car in front and if they stop it will stop, just touch the gas and it will resume when traffic starts to go again and then stop again if necessary.
