Mystery rubber plastic part found under the car
What is this plug and where did fall/pop out from my 992? Found it on the ground after I pulled the car out of the garage. Please help. Bad kind of mystery.

Is there a part number anywhere on the item? Can you show a few different angles?

I would say that’s not from your car or Porsche.

It appears to be from the 911... here's another thread on it from a 991 owner...

Unfortunately, on the 992, it appears to be covered up, so, I would have to remove panels to replace it. It looks like it is a dust cover for a bolt.

With guidance from @Sajan who had the same thing happen to his 991 (see linked thread above), I found out where the plug goes. You can see it from the rear control arm. On the 992, it's completely covered by an underside panel, and as a result, it's not the easiest thing to reach. In poking around and sleuthing, I discovered that I am missing them on both sides. The one found on my garage floor was likely resting on the underbody panel until I backed out of the garage. I presume that the other departed in flight some time over the past 15-16k miles.
As folks note, it's not a Porsche part numbered plug. It's a simple, friction-fit, dust cover for an opening -- no o-ring or seal. In fact, I discovered that these plugs are marketed as transport and storage plugs. https://www.poeppelmann.com/us/kapst...il/gpn-300-fs/
Given that it's in an area already reasonably protected, I suspect that these may be simply shipping plugs. Nothing to worry about.

I just found the same plug in my driveway (992) this week - searched the manufacturer's site and found nothing Porsche related, then i noticed this thread in the return hits. Phew! Thanks for tracking it down! I can sleep better tonight.
