Rear Speaker Access ???
What I really would like to do is gain access to the area behind the rear quarter panel trim. However, it may be that being able to remove the speaker grill and the speaker and/or its enclosure might just give me the access I need.
By any chance does anyone have first hand experience with removing the speaker grill highlighted in the attached image in blue?
Thanks in advance for any assistance with this.

I haven’t removed myself, but looking at parts diagrams there are no screws or special clips, it’s just a press in/clip.

Three Wheelin'
That panel is very difficult to remove. Go to 991 thread to see how. Link included. Have to remove door sill trim, B pillar etc etc.
the speaker cover pops off, use a tin plastic pry tool around 1 o’clock position. 5 tabs hold this in place. You can remove speaker and get your hand behind panel. If you have rattle, could be tweeter, it is only held in place with three tabs. I put electrical tape under the tabs on the tweeter which stopped the rattle.

@siberian I found the following french site. I go there often to look at different things just out of curiosity. I have also used them before as their service is really good. (I live in luxembourg, so just next door)
be warned. You will pass many hours looking at these diagrams, I have 😊

Hi Lee. I can't seem to open any "schemas" for the 2021 992. Perhaps too new or do you need to provide a VIN prior to accessing? Merci d'avance du tuyeau!

Did you need to supply a VIN to get the schemas?

2021 is too new. 2020 works. You're right, this is nearly better than the Library of Congress!

My dealer replaced this panel for me on the driver side because of a defect in the leather, they told me the technician spent 4 hours on it

If you need to replace the entire panel it certainly can become something of a project. There is a daisy chain of overlapping trim pieces. They look like they must be removed and replaced in the "correct" order. This includes the rear seat and the rear seat belt. Looks to me like you'd also need to remove the front seat belt if the panel is being replaced. I'm trying to avoid becoming engaged in this puzzle if I can.

Answered my own question. The speaker grill does "just" snap fit to the trim panel. There are four medium sized clips and one very small one at the lower left rear corner. Pop the grill off by starting at the lower left rear corner so that the little clip is released first. Then you can work around the panel to pop the other four clips. These four are stubborn buggers. Once you've accomplished this . . . you get to look at the speaker, the tweeter and if you have ambient lighting, the fiber optic light piece as well. But looking is all you can do. If you actually need to work on any of these things and/or gain access to the area behind this . . . . . you are S.O.L.

I have another comment on this panel. Be careful when moving the seat all the way back under power that the seat belt buckle is not between the seat and this panel. It will push the seat buckle into the leather and leave a dent. I was somewhat lucky to get mine replaced under warranty because of a separate unrelated flaw in the leather. My dealer was very helpful.
