Look up Mods4cars SmartTop. This will provide you with the add’l functionality such as window and top operation using the key fob

Control of the windows and roof via key fob is not available in North America. The SmartTop also allows for a one touch feature and negates having to hold the roof buttons (open or close).

Doug Demuro is opening it with the Key in his video (6:45). Did they remove this?

By the way - this has been my biggest surprise (and mild annoyance) since I picked up my 21 Targa 4s too. @Stevelev do you know offhand if the Mods4cars SmartTop works with the 992 targa? They don't have it on their menu.

Yes, I saw that. Their instructions say it only works with the cab but will reach out.

Yes, 992 targa needs a special unit.

I just sent an email asking for status, they show a version for 991's

Did you ever hear back from them? I’m contemplating a Targa build and this seems like a must-have.

No ETA yet. I’ve learned to live with it.

I've had my Targa 4S since November. Was mildly annoyed about this for a few hours, then no big deal. I've seen the postings about the aftermarket fix, but personally wouldn't bother. Suggest you wait until you've had the car for a few weeks and then reassess. If you just want to watch the show, which is quite a spectacle, after a few views that becomes an afterthought compared to getting out on the road with the top off.
