New patent filed by Porsche for what looks like a Gullwing concept, thoughts?

Whew! Bad dream.

 

That’s one of the concepts in the Porsche Unseen book they put out.

 

A case of, “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”

 

This makes no sense to me. The last thing the world needs is a spilt window 911.

 

That side view is truly hideous. But it's a concept car. Porsche wouldn't build something that ugly.

 

I actually like it pretty well. Not perfect, but with a few tweaks I think it'd look great.

Maybe a special EV halo model? Apply the Taycan tech to a sports car?

 

A gull wing would be great, but on a clean sheet designed, super car.

 

Straight on from side, I agree. Other side angles, elevated somewhat, looks great!

 

It won't be a 911, it will be a Supercar, Think Carrera GT, the next generation.

 

I definitely see this more as an aspirational foundation for a gullwing, mid-engine supercar replacement for the 918. Maybe not this particular design but I believe Porsche had a mid-engine Supercar in the works and gullwing doors does some sense if they plan to push the price way up.

 

Looks like a parts bin special and not designed from a clean sheet. Pass.

 

Could be limited run cash cow before transition. Or outright EV Halo car.

 

This profile of the car literally looks like a Ford Pinto and a 911 had a hot one-night stand and both parties forgot to either bring or use protection, or both.
