1000% Agree. The Theia is going to be a game changer. I check the site every day.

V1Connection is a free IOS app that will allow you to upgrade the software via bluetooth and provides a few other functions. But V1Driver ($9.99) is what you really want IMO; it really makes configuring the V1 easy.
The auto lockouts in V1 Driver are great too.

I run a V1, Gen 2. Just plug it in and go with no hassle. I have played around with the JBV1 app but really have not seen any value with it yet. Probably because I have no idea how to configure the settings. Many moons ago, my shop used to install the K40 front and rear remote systems. They were great. A friend just had the latest generation installed in his M8 and is very happy with it. You may want to do some research on them before making the final decision.

I know you don’t want to do too much setup but I will urge you to get to learn the radar detector you get. After the initial setup and locking out bands not used in your area, you can leave it alone. This will greatly reduce falses. If you get a radar detector and don’t interpret the alerts correctly, you will still get a ticket.

I also recommend the R7 or 360 Redline until we know more about Theia.

K40 is a very marginal product for the money spent, dealerships and some shops push it because there is a huge margin on it. If you want an all in one radar/laser solution then Escort is the best. If you are willing to deal with 2 different units, then AL Priority is the best for laser and at the moment Redline 360c/V1 gen 2 are the best for Radar and Theia likely will be once released.

In parallel with the Escort recommendations, does anyone have any experience with the module these guys make that integrates the detector into the Porsche dash?

This being my first radar detector ever, where do you guys recommend mounting it?

Concerns of it falling and damaging parts of the cabin in our very pricy vehicle are a consideration for me

Just got blendmount for my Escort 360 Max. Have had the windshield sticky cup mount and often on a hot day look up and its gone...somewhere on the floorboard. gonna try the blendmount this time and see how I like it....once I do the DITY hardwire taps [which have been sitting in my tool kit for the past 2 mos].

I had and R3 in a Boxster and it worked great with Blendmount. I left it in the car when i sold it. I bought the new Escort Max 3 for the auto lockouts which the R3 will never have and the R7 is supposed to have but I dont think does. The auto lockouts on the Max 3 work well so far. I know other Escorts have arrows etc... my thought is if it beeps, slow down, dont care where it is coming from. The mag mount on the Escorts is also way better than the clip on the R3 or R7.

V1Gen2 - suction cups work fine - BlendMount is a great way of mounting as well - with suction cups, mount it on windshield just in front of mirror console - small zip tie would hold power line and the V1 in place, should the cups ever let go - over 100k test miles with the suction cups and they let go maybe 3 times - power line always held it steady

ran a power cord run up to the mirror area - from drivers footwell fuse box up thru the interior panels exiting from the mirror console towards the very front - wire end is only "unsightly" item - i never see it - passenger hasn't complained

decided against BlendMount, due to past experience in corvette....after 40,000 miles or so the mirror started shaking loose - and looking closely on the 911 having the V1 under the mirror blocks off some vision, although that was a minimal consideration....it was more the fact of the V1 & BlendMount catching vibration and shaking the mirror area that made me go back to suction cups

decided against the mirror tap - but here is a link to another forum member that did it: https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1185...radar-etc.html

Great choice. The V1 stuff is over rated and over priced oh and big and ugly as well.
