Default 992 side skirt option question?

Sorry if this was asked and answered before...but does the side skirt on the 992 lower the ground clearance in any way? Is it purely a cosmetic look? Thx

Ground clearance is the same. It’s just painted which creates the illusion of being lower than the black plastic skirting.

It also helps mitigate the amount of rocks that would normally strike the rear quarter panels. I still have clean PPF with no pitting.

In typical Porsche fashion. Form follows function.

To be clear, it’s a replacement piece of plastic (or aluminum), that replaces the original black plastic piece...so as to keep the same ground clearance....but the new painted piece, extends out further in the horizontal direction, than the original...and that acts to mitigate rocks being kicked up into the back quarter panel? Did I get that right?

Not sure on what material; but yes, the extended protrusion helps mitigate rocks.

OK, now I’m clear on what’s going on. I think I will add...it does give it a nice look.

My local dealer quoted me ~$2300 to have them installed after the fact. That includes paint and install as they come primered.

Or buy them from Suncoast --> https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKU992SSILLS.html then take them to your favorite autobody for paint. You can install yourself if your can remove 6 bolts from the underbody...super simple.

I liked the skirts. I think there is a third benefit. It reduces the amount of black painted surface over the soft material, which can be difficult to clean thoroughly, especially after rocks and such hit it. Bargain for $1k in my opinion.

I have a set of 2021 Turbo S side skirts available if anyone is interested. I changed mine out for CF ones. They have 0 miles on them.

I personally didn't click that box due to they get rock chips and will look beat up.
What I really want is those exact skirts but not painted, basically whenever the GTS comes out I believe 100% it will come with those side skirts un painted.

I’d rather have a stone chip down low where it is less noticeable....than kicked up into the quarter panel. If concerned, I can always have it wrapped.

You saying that the fact that they stick out. a little it helps with rocks ? in that case then that's great and better chips on the skirts then body panels agree 100%.
I just still would want them in black unpainted, prefer the look.
Just noticed on the turbo, any chance will the turbo skirts fit ? it looks like they stick out a little and are in black plastic.

Thank you

Yes, per comments from actual owners above. Read the comments above. Somebody (above) said you can get after market or from dealer...if I were to do that, I would ask that they paint in black if not already coming that way?
