Interesting post. I have a 718 GT4, which, as most know, you cannot option with FAL. I scrape exiting my driveway and also exiting neighborhood, among other places. Am awaiting a GTS allocation at the moment and am contemplating adding FAL. Does anyone out there have experience with both cars and have an opinion for me one way or the other with regard to adding FAL on the upcoming GTS?

Measure your clearance on your 718 and compare to the 992 without FAL, then add 4cm or about 2" more for FAL and you have your answer.

As some have already said, even if you never need it, it does provide piece of mind when you approach a speed bump, driveway curb or parking garage entrance ramp that has a seep dip at the entrance/exit ramp.

I personally have GPS marked 4 locations, including my house, that need it, and that I routinely visit - ie, gas station, liquor store and local park. If I come up to something that is not-GPS tagged, but looks like I may need FAL, I use it…no angling or other tricks to get over without scraping.
This, exactly.

Unless you are navigating some crazy incline or decline, or some massive divot in the road, 99.9% of the time in any situation the 911 does not need the FAL, and you will not scrape even without the FAL.

Even with the most extreme driveways, inclines, etc., if you simply take it an angle (just harken back to your grade school geometry lessons) and approach it s-l-o-w-l-y, you will not scrape.

What FAL does is make driving your 911 more convenient and less of a hassle so that you can spend more time fidgeting with Apple Carplay and sipping on your cappuccino while driving.

Right, I'll bring along a calculator and trig my way to determining if it's safe to proceed, recalculating my AOA if required, instead of (being likely to confront such an issue) actually buy it. OTOH I will absolutely need a 6k aerokit which will do absolutely nothing 100% of the time I drive. But YMMV

I would also say…don’t be “that guy”, while trying to enter the airport parking garage, who feel the need to angle their car at some oblique angle, so that they don’t scrape.

Been behind one of “those people” before, who felt their approach angle had to be something less than 90 degrees while approaching at a snails pace…. as I was hurrying to make a flight.

Friends don’t let friends not get FAL. If not for yourself, then for the rest of us? 😎 😂

I got my car back today after 2 weeks. They found a leak in a hydraulic line and replaced it. This meant removing the fuel tank and reinstalling. Now all good!

Only annoyance to report is…you need to lower it, manually, after you pull into your driveway/garage….it does not lower automatically when you turn the car off…and have heard you definitely should lower after you are done driving.
Why does it need to be lowered before shutting the engine off?
