FAL failed on my 2021 Targa4S with less than 500 miles on it. I get an error message stating that service is necessary, but when I restart the car, FAL starts working again...only to fail again later. Totally shocking to me that this would happen on a new Porsche.

No problems with the FAL on my 2020 992 Carrera S. I got it because I had to replace the lip on my old 997 GT3 about every other year. However, even when I forget to lift the front end, the 992's lip doesn't seem to scrape in those locations where the 997 always did . I found the FAL is needed only on those exits and entrances that are unusually steep.

Any idea how many locations can be remembered via GPS to automatically engage FAL?

Did you get this fixed? I can reliably get my 992 to error message every time if 1) lift the car 2)I turn off the car when it is lifted (I know its not good to park it lifted) 3)Turn back on go about driving and exceed the speed (I think 38-40mph) for it to auto lower, the lift system error message will come on, cycling ignition resets it and it functions normally again.

FAL on 2022 C2S failed after 1600 miles. I have to use it everyday on my driveway. SA called today said there is some leak in the system. I thought it worked electrically.

Thank you for the link. I don't know if there would be a puddle of fluid on the ground.

A quick question since you say you use it every day. Do you release FAL when you park and turn the car off?

After reading all above, I am getting worried about my coming TT with FAL… it seems FAL is something that you cannot use it everyday. Maybe it’s time to think about ordering another one without FAL to save the trouble. Had a 992 c4s and it does scratch a little on my driveway. Really a headache 🤕

OK let's get the facts here. FAL is not a problem, at least in my case and from what I gather it's reliable and the "memory" or GPS setting works absolutely flawlessly. It also states in the manual that you should release FAL before turning the engine off as it's not meant to keep the vehicle raised with no power. This "could" cause the pump to fail under prolonged non running use, which is why I asked the question in case that's where the problem originated. Some have also raised the possibility that the car would release on its own, I don't know but if that's the case I don't understand why they would specifically note for you to release prior to shutting the engine off. Would it harm it if it's done once or twice? No, done daily...

So FAL can be used every day, I certainly do whether by -40F or 85F above, FAL works like a charm; just RTFM

I have a 2022 c4s and use FAL at the entrance of my driveway. I park the car with the FAL activated and it doesn’t come back down until I leave the house and hit 40mph. Over 2000 miles and still fine for what it’s worth.

As I mentioned, the manual clearly states to release it when parked. YMMV

FAL is infinitely more reliable than the PCM.

I thought long and hard about including FAL on my GTS as I live in an area with a lot of, what I would consider to be large speed bumps (UK). I don’t have a steep driveway or the need to use steep car parks. In 600 miles I’ve not needed it and am glad I chose against. I know if I’d had it, I’d have activated at every speed bump (I’d have felt obliged having paid for it and how annoyed would I have been scraping having paid for FAL?!). I actually feel liberated not having it. Appreciate I don’t have a TT and I’ll probably scrape my car today having typed this!
