Default Drifting 992 with Rear Steer ?

I'm no expert when it comes to drifting but my teenage son who apparently is a drifting expert on his play station ask me the question.

So how does the C2S react on a track or skid pan with rear wheel steer ?

No sure sure if this question has been covered anywhere on this forum but I guess its a good question.

Apparently the RWS system can sense when the car is in a drift and it will return to the neutral position in that case.

The rear wheel steer steers or counter steers based on the car’s velocity and effects a sharper turning radius at lower speeds. It doesn’t really interfere with drifting, and these cars are fabulous on a skid pad.

The C4 also drifts fine. You gently increase the throttle pressure to let the awd system know you like what’s happening and it should focus more on making the car go in the direction you are steering it and less on stabilizing it.

I believe the driver in the video has PSM turned off to accomplish the large drift angles

There are 3 modes of PSM

OFF, PSM Sport and PSM

I think of PSM really means Please Save Me because I am not an above average driver, I have taken several drivers courses at Porsche and BMW and I learned quickly that I have a lot to learn about driving smoothly, with speed and safety

the PSM Sport allows for a few degrees of drift before the technology self corrects the car

in the hands of a talented professional driver , Our cars can drift just like the videos

If you go to a skidpad with an instructor, you too can drift these cars pretty easily. I can, so basically anyone can ...

RWS should have no effect on the car's tendency to drift, as making a car drift is really about power oversteer, which RWS has no bearing on.

My 991.2 had RWS and I would say the main difference is that it is just a little more difficult to initiate the drift when the rear wheels are angled. As someone else mentioned once you break free the rear wheels return to a 0 angle and it drifts like normal.

While our cars are certainly capable of drifting, I do believe it must change the dynamics of a drift slightly.

In theory, I do think RWS should change the point at which power oversteer causes the rear tires to break traction. Rear wheels in opposite direction should raise the threshold? I believe that's exactly why it improves lap times.

Imagine if the rear wheels could turn 360° like a shopping cart. The wheels would point in the direction of motion, and the car would rotate without the wheels ever breaking traction.

Just brainstorming using my understanding of physics. Hopefully that makes sense.
