Default Lurching in 2nd gear PDK

I recently purchased a 2020 C2S with PDK. In second gear between 1800 and 3000 rpms, doing slow accelerations the car lurches or stutters. It is under full warranty so will take it in but am curious as to what y’all think the issue could be. THANKS.

I have a 2020 C2S PDK and I haven’t felt a stutter like you described. Are you starting in 2nd or going from 1st to 2nd?

just a normal start in first. It’s reminds me of trying to teach someone to drive a stick and the car would lurch when they didn’t give it enough gas and let the clutch out.

That doesn’t sound normal. Take it in to see what’s wrong.

Definitely does not sound right to me especially at the 1800-3000 RPM range. I can see it in a cold car at 1000 RPM and even then it should not be.

I have noticed some lurching when the car starts from a rolling stop in 2nd. Not exactly what you described, but rpms can be high as it tries to slip the clutch. I wish it would just start in 1st.

Does this happen when the car is fully warmed up?

I think I might have the same problem with my C2S.

Can you tell me what caused the lurging and is the problem resolved at the dealership?
thanks!

it has largely stopped but when it goes in for routine it is on a small list of items for dealer to check. When I spoke with them they thought it could be a coding issue. It only happens in 2nd gear in sport mode between 2-3300 rpms and especially if road is bumpy. Almost the same as what happens when someone is learning to drive a stick. Weird. Let me know if you get any explanations. I will do same.

Yes I will do the same. I will let you know if the mechanics know what causes this little hesitation.

I think you are right. It happens only in second gear in sport mode driving slowly.

I have a 981 with the exact same observation: car stumbles between 2400 and 3400 rpm. I mostly notice it in 3rd gear, sport mode, and under acceleration. Dealer said it’s normal and related to the vario cam. Doesn’t sound right to me but will closely monitor it.

Has anyone by any chance found a solution yet? Could it be a bad coil pack?

Is it repeatable? If not, I suspect the dealership will say what they always say when looking at intermittent issues - “we can’t repeat the issue”

Also, does the lurching stop if you press on the accelerator? How do you get it from stopping?
