Default Litchfield Ecu Tuning

Hi

Has anyone done the Litchfield Ecu tuning? What are your thoughts and experience.

They were one of the first to do 992 tuning...and with impressive gains! But alas haven't seen any members post about first hand experience

for what it's worth I'm waiting for APR. I want to use my car for autocross,
and AFIK, that is the only ECU tuner whose software is programmed to allow left foot braking overlapping with the accelerator
so that there is not an abrupt throttle cut off.

Can't speak for 992 tuning, but had my 991 Turbo S done by them when it was 18 mths old. Had their custom titanium exhaust and tune. Before eventually selling I did 16,000 miles of which about half was driving in the European Alps and car was flawless.

Sooo, I was interested in Lichfield and contacted them a few times. My experience has been quite lacking. Their coms are poor, they didn't get back to me reference wheel spacers, in-spite of numerous request for more info and a promise they would call me back. I was left feeling that if they can't get the coms bit right, and they won't warranty an engine in a way that says they believe in their tuning, then I don't think it's worth the risk. To be fair I didn't get my car tuned so maybe they are amazing at the important engine stuff, but their poor communication really put me off.

9e offer a similar deal, but its twice the price....

Their comms have never been great, but it's partly because they're always so busy. I've had 5 cars done by them and it is sometimes frustrating but worthwhile given the quality. If it was easy to get them on the phone and easy to get an immediate booking you might have to wonder why. If you're ever over that way best thing is to visit in person - the scale of the facilities is much greater than most other UK tuners. To be honest I'm not surprised they didn't get back to you about wheels spacers. Reputable wheel specialists will be better for that - try Prestige Wheel Centre in Birmingham, they are UK distributors for most of the better wheel brands.

I know this is an old thread, but is the Litchfield tune something that has to be done at their shop? Or is this a tune I could load into the car via the access port? I'm in Atlanta so taking the car overseas is obviously not possible.

It was on my previous 992 and to my knowledge the ECU had to be shipped to Litchfield. This was back in 2021, I’m not sure if things have changed since then. I removed it and installed M Eng on that same car and I noticed a difference, more consistency in torque delivery throughout the RPM range.

IMO, shops and vendors who are non-responsive doesn't usually mean they are very popular and good, but is more likely to mean they are simply not very responsive or customer friendly. M Engineering is a very popular tuner who puts out excellent products and they are super responsive by phone and email. It doesn't mean they have no customers and are sitting around all day twiddling their thumbs.

Can you please expand on your experience? Litchfield seems to have an excellent rep in Europe but not a lot of info on this side of the pond. Seems like there's a 50HP delta between the Litchfield tune and M Engineering's but numbers are not everything. I'd like to understand the difference between the vendors a little more.

My observation is anecdotal, never had the car at the track or officially measured the 0-60 or 1/4 mile times. The car felt that it had more torque throughout the RPM range with M Engineering when compared to Litchfield, I know that is not helpful and it could all be a placebo but that is what I remember.
