I have an allocation, but have not yet locked. I'm wondering whether those who have SPASM have experienced a lot of scraping on driveways and ramps, or over road debris. A half inch of lowering doesn't seem like much, but I'm thinking it could be enough to cause problems. (I don't want to invest in Front Axle Lift).

It's OK, I have it and no lift. No more scraping than I recall in my non-SPASM 997S. Just understand that you will get some, but the front lip is a consumable and readily available if you want - not that the underside is very visible though.
I have the FAL with SPASM because of my driveway. I can enter with no scraping but if I don’t pay attention I will just touch. Exit is no problem, a wide road with good entry. I have the FAL more for insurance in traveling or visiting.
I scraped the underside of my muffler backing out of a tight driveway the other day (so I couldn't angle it going out). Huge "F%$#" movement at the time, but upon inspection it was super minor. First scrape.
After traveling across 14 states and driving nearly 14k miles, it's totally fine. You would never know that my front lip has touched the ground unless you laid down and looked at the bottom of the lip. Don't forget that the black lip is a sacrificial $200 part -- cheap to replace when it gets gnarly, at least by Porsche standards.
I've taken my car up and into other people's driveways and city parking garages without incident, but I am also used to driving low cars -- heck, my old Subaru STI was about 3" off of the ground. It does really come down to your own personal circumstance, ie. your own driveway/parking situation. You don't want to be grimacing every time that you get home.

It's those big 911 overhangs at either end of the car.
+1 more here who has SPASM and no FAL and has almost zero issue, but like wise I’ve learned from prior experience of driving an M3 how to always approach ramps, bumps and dips at an angle, and to see and avoid steep driveways all together. (The M3 was actually lower in front and being painted, way more scrape prone.) You also have to learn how to judge your distance from parking curbs, or just back in. In this case the Park distance warning is very helpful, and even when I’ve screwed up once or twice the lip has still cleared the concrete. The front height of this car is actually relatively forgiving.
I have still managed to scrape the bottom of the lip once or twice, but it is 100% not noticeable, plus the knowledge that the part is cheaply and easily replaceable for $195 completely takes away any concerns I would have otherwise.
I’m on my 3rd 911, previously in the 997.2 with standard PASM, in a 991.2 with SPASM, now with 992 with SPASM; no real issue at all and none of them have FAL. Scraping happened and will happen no matter which suspension you choose and will happen even if you have FAL, Porsche has the best idea to deal with scraping by offering a cheap replacement plastic piece. While driving the 911, I’d never had to worry about much which is a completely different case when I drove my AMG GTR thta is lower, wider, less visibility, and no FAL was ever offered from factory.
Not to be a naysayer, but even with trying to get the perfect angle most of my performance cars have scraped when entering my driveway. FAL is a mandatory choice for me.
