20 Sec Boost Button MT
The sport chrono PDK has a button in the middle of the mode selector that gives 20 seconds of Sports+ mode. Is also available on the the MT? If not why? I realize we are shifting ourselves but that 20sec burst deactivated with second press is a great feature.

It doesn't really make sense in a manual car; there is no over boost involved and the car can't automatically change down so not sure what you'd get other than maybe sharper throttle response or stiffer shocks.

To be clear, it’s not 20sec of Sports Plus. It’s a brief period of extra boost, stiffening of the engine mounts, and aggressive downshifts for the PDK if you’re in auto mode. It is effectively maximum attack mode. In fact, you can even activate it while you are in Sports Plus mode. You can also use it with the PDK in manual mode.

MT is dead in the coming years. Embrace the future and accept it if you want a new car.

Yes, the writing is on the wall, which is why I want one before it becomes extinct. The answer I am hoping for an an esteemed board like this is not, don't get an MT.

My understanding is that besides everything already mentioned the main thing it does is drop you down to the lowest possible gear at that speed and maximizes it all the way to redline before shifting - almost like launch control except at speed. Hence the reason why you cannot have the button or launch control in a MT - You are the button.

I thought you MT boys wanted all the control - first you give up rev matching and now you want the little button as well...come on boys stay true

I always assumed MTs had it. Looking at pictures, it seems that is not the case. I agree that it's still worthwhile. Not sure why they'd go through the hassle of removing.

Then wouldn’t having two levers on the steering wheel allowing switching up and down gears in milliseconds without the unnecessary delay of depressing a clutch and moving a lever also qualify as higher-level “control”? There is no justification for a manual gearbox other than “I want one.” Which is fine. I sometimes want one, too, but I realize it’s because I’m a boomer who always equated manuals with performance cars, not because it gives me more “control” or somehow elevates the driver-car connection.

This endless bashing of manual transmissions has long since got boring. Time to move on.
