I've restored over a half dozen Porsches and British cars - mostly 60s and a couple of 70s. Full rotisserie most of the time, so I know my way around cars and maintenance. But I'm at the point in my life with our new cars (Porsche and Mercedes) where I just let the dealer do it and I pay the price. I just factor it into the cost of ownership over the long haul. I know, it's expensive and not necessary, but as they say - to each his own, maybe it's part of the fact that I'm not as young as I used to be. I love working on older cars. The new ones - MEH! It's just not the same, I don't enjoy it and even though I have a four post lift I really don't like crawling around under the 911. I think it's great there are members on the list who do it themselves - good on ya! And I enjoy reading the posts, but for me I'll stick with the dealer.
Cheers, Ross
