DIY Oil change
#31
I'm looking to avoid taking it in, as it's a bit inconvenient for me in these times - I don't want to sit around in their lounge while waiting, nor do I have a good way of getting back home (and back there again obviously).

Much like the 997. Remove the engine compartment cooling fans to get to the filter. Difference is that the oil and coolant caps have to be removed to remove the plastic shroud wiith the fans on it. If you have a hot engine, you are going to lose some coolant. Drain plug is a one time use.

They pop off, no screws for the fans. Search on youtube there are quite a few for the 991, none for the 992 yet, but I assume it's the same as the former.

Yes, sorry the fan shroud is separate as well as a gasket that has to be removed and then you pop (or lift) the fans out. You can only remove the right side, but removing both (don't forget to disconnect the electrical connections) gives you that much more room (especially for clean-up). Thanx for the correction eagle1960

What isn't is the shipping surcharge to AK. I just wish we'd surcharge our oil...
