My house in Reston VA had a narrow garage, so I tacked a section of a pool noodle to the wall so I wouldn’t open it into the cinder block. When I pulled in, I always threw it into reverse to activate the rear camera to confirm the car was in far enough. That allowed me to make more room for working at the tool bench area in the front area of the garage.

couple of pullies screwed into the ceiling, when the door was open the ball drops, when closed it pops back up.
Now THAT is an excellent idea/recommendation!

mom the other side of the garage the car has t back in, drivers doors then open into the middle.
M5 had side view cameras in the front bumper, line them up on a mark on the wall and stop. Door closes with about 4 inches at the front and enough room to get to the dog food freezer at the back.
Macan will take the M5 spot and 911 will get the foam ball, so I’ll have to come up with something for the macan assuming no sideways cameras

Is there anyway to activate the cameras when in drive? My 2020 F150 had a button that if u click will pull up the 360 view if at a low enough speed. Does the 911 with surround view have a similar feature?

yup ...if door opening is limited in a garage / parking space and you are in a vehicle whose seats are low to ground ( worse with aggressive bolsters ) , the best way to get out is to 1) swing both feet out together 2) grab door sill with both hands 3) push up to clear butt of bolster to sit on door sill 4) stand up and finish exiting facing partially backwards

entry is all the above in reverse ...this also significantly minimizes seat bolster wear !

you may look like a dork , but this sill to seat / seat to sill technique also works for getting in and out of any low slung sports car with almost zero long term seat back or seat bottom side bolster wear even if you can fling door open all the way ...whether it be a flatter " sofa " or GT3 style seat

You can select it via the PCM but you can also use one of the Diamond buttons. Understand for some cars these are in short supply, as in as few as one on the steering wheel.

Almost like how the ladies wearing skirts would enter/exit cars.

I don't have any issues entering/exiting with my current car(bmw 340), but those doors don't look as long, and the body not as fat. Hopefully I will be fine...Hate to have to re-build the garage or park it outside in a busy urban area.

You can set one of the programable buttons to do this.

As for how far to pull in, another option if you have floor tiles is to create a slot the front tire can drop into, which marks the perfect position:

Interesting solutions. For me, I pull in until a side-long glance puts my line of sight squarely on the P of the Porsche script in the lower left corner of the photo. I used to pull our Cayman in a little further, to the center point of the Porsche badge. For our other car, we use the hanging tennis ball technique. My spouse bounces it off the windshield and stops in that vicinity give or take a foot but generally short of the rear wall of the garage.

You can probably use a point on the rear wall of the garage to navigate the width.

My friend always used the hanging tennis ball. I have one of these on my garage floor.

Yup...I have my dash diamond programmed to bring up cameras...super handy driving into a tight parking structure, and you can switch it while moving from Panorama to Bird's eye to Side views.
