Default 2021 992

Just took delivery of a GT Silver Carrera S with only performance options. Not even a sunroof.
Will have to post new pics. The old pic was my first Porsche which was a 2006 model.

My dealer made me sign something on my order specifically saying I didn’t want the sunroof. Was surprised by that. Didn’t think it was that big of a deal not to order one.

Friends don't let friends cut holes in the roofs of performance cars.

It was interesting that in the build sheet it specifically mentioned no sunroof.

I wonder if the dealers give a hard time as they now if you walk on the deal that it will be harder to sell without a sunroof. I too spec'd without a sunroof and my dealer likewise looked at me like I am crazy.

When I drive I put my all into it and would not even realize that there was a sunroof above me. Hey in my boxster sometimes I did not even realize the roof was down

Dealer doesn’t want to get stuck with the car as it would be a tough sell, very small market for a no sunroof Porsche. Enjoy in good health.

Exactly, plus my wife has multiple allergies so I NEVER used the other one so didn't want one or see a need for one. I also got questioned multiple times but I do know several people who prefer no sunroof (but we are just not the majority).

Apparently sunroofs affect resale value. But I didn't buy the car with resale value in mind.

The carbon fiber roof option would look nice on cars without a sunroof but doesn’t look like many people tick that box.

I really thought about it since my 992 replaces my e92 M3coupe which had the CF roof. It was going to be done for sentimental value in a way and trying to gain some weight savings according to the option description. However, after reading some threads on RL regarding the CF roof, it only saves a few pounds so the costs didn’t seem justified. Plus I’m gonna be weighing down my car with 18way seats

I think that as a rule options give back very little in resale value and so the to spend $2500 on a sunroof so that you can get $1000 back on resale does not really make a lot of sense.
I also think that with the dearth of 2020's and 2021's and maybe even 2022's due to Covid our 992's will hold value well even without sunroofs. Kind of like the lower number of 997's due to the financial crash in 2008-2010.

One of the reason i did not get the sunroof is that to a degree it is really somewhat unimpressive as a sunroof. If it had been panoramic or whole roof or like the sunroofs in the 996 Targas I might (might, might) have been persuaded but for the relatively small hole in the roof that messes with structural integrity and is a potential leak source I did not feel it warranted it

My car is a drivers car with SC, PSE and little else and definitely no sun roof and I am sure that while it might scare off one or two buyers due to lack of sunroof the fact that it has the other important stuff will make it more than attractive to someone looking for a drivers car they can tune (or that may even have been tuned by me)
