I completely miss the ability to shift using the stick. I didnt use it much, but it was very useful if I needed to downshift while making a u turn or something like that. Again, I didn't use it much. But having the ability to use it when my hands where not exactly at 10 and 2, was most helpful. Ive found myself "looking" for it a few times.
Because of this, I find my 992 in full auto mode more than I have EVER seen in any of my 991.2's. My 991.2's NEVER saw auto mode. But my 992 sees it 90% of the time now. And that bugs me. Im a manual guy. And manual 991.2 PDK was fine with me. But this paddles only 992 PDK is not as useful to me.
Agreed, it would be the same for me. Drive my '19 Turbo in manual mode all the time and the shifter is very useful. Porsche should have done 2 things - one console with just 3 buttons or so for people that don't care for a shifter, and one console that replaces those buttons with a small shifter similar to the beginning of the post. Charge me more for it - don't care, would get it.

Completely agree. I used the PDK shift lever 95% of the time in my 991.2 C4S and current GT3 RS, it makes driving with the PDK much more exciting(especially considering Porsche got the gear change directions right finally). Just ordered a new 992, I would have ordered another PDK(even though I'm a manual guy in 911's) as it just offers so much, BUT had to go back to my roots with a manual on the 992 as I am just not a paddle shift guy. Wish they would have given the new PDK 'shaver' lever at least the ability to shift, I could have grown to deal with it.
Can’t seem to find the contact point for the shift mechanism....???
literally like LEGO....parts and boards are so basic I could 3 print mechanism and contacts to completely delete the PDK for toggle switches of some sort...🤔
