Porsche Connect App / Remote Services almost never work
Anyone else having Connect App issues with their 992 not being able to connect to the Porsche server? Remote functions such as lock and unlock are unable to be performed. Using the iOS app and the connection is so intermittent, weeks of perfect use/functionality, and weeks of unable to connect, random updates on car data (such as fuel level) but no lock and unlock functionality.
It's precisely this sort of poor/non-functionality that drives a manufacturers J.D.Power ratings into the swirly. It puts them right there with those vehicles where the transmissions fell out, the front suspensions collapsed and the seats rotted all in the first year of ownership!

Now I'm confused. 992 owners described leaking PDK, front strut failure and sagging leather seats.

Even with all the PCM & Porsche connect shortcomings. Porsche did an impressive job in the rankings for JD Power.

Reason: Brand
Yes, I wish that Porsche Connect had a bring your own SIM pricing tier. That low QoS MVNO Vodafone plan is technically included "free", but it works quite poorly. I am getting better signal strength and throughput using a Project Fi SIM.
It was spotty for me when I first got the car, but after a few code updates since March, it's been working pretty reliably for me in the last few weeks.
The only thing I would pay for is a remote start. The rest is lining Apple, Google or Porsche's pockets and has nothing to do with Fahrvergnügen
siberian
Porsche is never going to do remote start on their gas powered cars. They don't want cars idling to warm up -- bore scoring in a flat engine is a real thing. Take it easy on it cold, driving it to warm up. Once that engine oil gets above 180F (some will say 160F), knock yourself out.
That's old reasoning, as fewer and fewer P engines are flat 6s. And if they go electric as they threaten to do within the next ten to 15 years then the point is moot. However it would be nice to climb into a cozy cabin and not a freezer locker and I would definitely be interested in paying for that - no not 3 or 5 grand, but a reasonable price.
