over a year on the road and no major software fixes yet?

Ok so this video got me thinking...
skip to 5:45 and catch the gist of what I'm getting at..
I don't know about you all but I keep finding odd little bugs, and gremlins in the PCM and overall car that are clearly software issues... yet I am not aware of a major update since I got mine back in December..
Think they have any plans to address this stuff? or are they just going to wait for the 992.2 and fix it and the rest of us 992.1 owners are SOL?

.2 and you'll get the software update then. Perhaps it won't even cost you anything but I wouldn't hold my breathe on that one would be my guess. That's worth about exactly what you paid for it.

40 years in IT, nets/comm, R/T simulation systems in HEP and military and the same items such as scalability, adaptability/interoperability to OS's and network protocol changes not to mention Y2K fears for those archeologists who remember COBOL, produced the same questions.
Tesla has tried (as others) to use OTA to update software, not sure VDub/Audi/Porsche has committed to go down that road - heck they even refuse to provide a remote start. So where does all this lead? A dead end. As the video and 992Sam points out, we're stuck with antiquated and rickety software relying on third parties (Apple, Google etc.) to provide the wherewithal to use these (mostly) irrelevant systems. As I've stated numerous times, an infotainment system in a FERRARI?????????????? Sh*t I thought the Ferrari WAS the infotainment system. While I retrofitted a heated steering in my 2008 Touareg with a Chinese HU, I couldn't in 2010 as the function was controlled by the VDub HU infotainment. When that goes you loose a lot of functionality if you can't replace it.
I'm not sure I would go that far as to state that they create these systems so they can sell you more crap, but I will say that a lot of it is superfluous, horrendously expensive and frankly nonsensical. But no one forces you to buy it of course.

I received my first ever, non map update, OTA a couple of weeks ago. So, there appears to be a combination of dealer installed and OTA updates.

I had my car at the dealer for the dreaded Bose passenger door speaker rattle. The wait for parts was about 3 weeks. During that time, the dealer was nice enough to provide a loaner Cayenne. The PCM is almost identical except that everything works as advertised, even includes AM. The software for the 911 is obviously a poorly scaled version of the same software. No update was available as of about 10 days ago. Oh, and for the record, the speaker rattle is not fixed. Guess I'll give it another shot in a week or two.

Yeah, I am also surprised by this. I have seen a few map updates but nothing else! I sure hope they release a solid software update (with new features and bug fixes) before the end of the year!

the lack of excitement over this thread (compared to threads on peoples personal finances for example) is probably partly why... I mean how many average 992 owners have complained to their dealer or Porsche directly?

Fully agree 992Sam, the other thread has vigilante(s) out to attack some guy's bread and butter as the moral keepers, and PM me idiotic insulting mails.
But back to this thread, an interesting point if, as detansinn noted he already had some OTA updates (how are you notified? Do you get a message saying at your next stop we'll update?) But what happens if you don't want a specific update OTA? Example? I'm leaving on a 3k mile trip and I'm not interested (unless this is a life or death update) to have this installed at this time. Is there a way to disable OTA? Another legal question, at the end of the day, you've plonked down a whole lot of cash, and assuming you own the car, who actually does? Can you refuse updates?

I would think even if we're being ignored, they are hearing the complaints

There have already been several Non-critical recall related software updates. Since getting my 992 a year ago, I’ve even had an update that changed the UI and labels. During my recent annual service, additional updates were applied.
I received my first ever, non map update, OTA a couple of weeks ago. So, there appears to be a combination of dealer installed and OTA updates.
