Default Ding Defense

My Carrera S arrives in a couple of weeks, and I am seriously nesting. Here is my question, we effectively have a two car garage - has anyone seen (or made) a padded divider to separate your beloved from the family car? My kids (and wife) open the doors of the family car with reckless abandon, and I want to pro actively put something in place so that when the family car doors are opened, my Carrera won't suffer from door dings. Trust me, stern warnings to my wife and kids will not solve the problem.

As crazy as it sounds, a $5 blow up pool float connected to a PVC frame works real well. Super light weight and easy to move into place.

Don't think the magnetic ones are gonna stick to an aluminum door skin.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to look for something that stays in my garage so I don't have to remember to put them on the car (which, seems less than optimal). I may just fab something (thanks for the suggestion smiles11). Necessity is the mother of all invention after all.

Following the link and reading about the product, you would have seen suction cup adapters.

Anyway, thinking more about it, two pool noodles, poke holes in them, tie ropes and knot them off. The ropes drape over the roof hanging the pool noodles on either side.

PPF won’t save a car from dings. It’ll just save the paint.

Here you go - solve your problem with Car Storage bubble - reminds me of an old Seinfeld episode:-)

Seriously though PPF while will not stop extreme dings, if it is an occasional tap, it till help from marks, etc. The other thing you could do, get a nice car cover (outdoor) which is thicker, keep it on while in the garage

Haha. Love the bubble. Here is what I ended up creating. It's a bit medieval, but will do the trick. Other than the exercise mat, purchased everything in one trip to Lowes.

Just make sure they don't knock it over onto your car! I would add an anchor from the ceiling.

Lol, very inventive.
I'm assuming its a 2 car garage and you're exiting all the fitness equipment?
If not, why not move all that stuff to the middle and separate the cars?

reminds me what "Maddox" said .....

ok...its a joke, but..... I was brought up as a child to believe that careless destruction of parents ( or anyone else for that matter ) possessions was not because dad hadn't pre-sorted my whole life out ...it was for me to get right.
