A new era I’m against I might I add.
They ditched the idea to make the 992.2 hybrid. So the extraspace and weight was unfortunatelly useless.

How do we know for sure they ditched it? That’s music to my ears if true

Take it as a rumour if you want. I am well connected in the German 911-scene and there it's basically set that no hybrid will come in the 992, at least not on the normal versions. GT2 or other rare special versions might be another story. They ditched the idea because of weight issues.

Kermit - if that is the case, then kudos to Porsche's R and D for not "settling" and putting out a product that does not meet its standards. The 911 has such a famous pedigree that Porsche really needs to make sure a hybrid 911 is a knockout. Look what happened to Coke when they introduced New Coke. No bueno.

Any idea of how much weight has been added to our current cars for their original plan of making a later hybrid variant?

Other way. I’d imagine the car was designed with less weight to help accommodate it. So that empty space put our cars on a diet 🤣

Oh Jeez Debbie downers...if this is 918/919 level hybrid motorsport tech I'm in. I'd buy a 918 performing 911 all day long. In fact, it's probably the only car I'll ever consider to replace my Carrera T.

cheers!

Is it anything that they can remove for the 992.2? Since it's not going to be needed now.

And maybe put the AM radio back in. I heard that was removed because of interference caused by electric motors.

I believe we have a long time to enjoy ICE 911s. In 2030 in US, pure gas cars are still forecast to be ~50% of sales and pure electric at 10-20%.

The transition to electric is a very long, drawn out process. And 911s will trail the broader market.

I don't disagree with you, but things are different in ROW, especially in the EU.

Yes it is. I think more likely outcome is we'll see the less investment in advancing the gasoline powertrain. But could continue selling with previous engines and PDK.
