Default Water Pump issues on 991.2 (and 992?)

So I went over to the 991 forums to get an idea of how reliable the closest thing to a 992 has been (the 992 engine is an evolution from the 991.2)..

Seems the consensus is that there is an abundant number of failures of the water pump, some as early on under 10K miles..

Has anyone heard of water pump failures on the 992, or if Porsche has addressed this since clearly it must be a known issue?

There’s a recall on several 992s, mine among them. Figured I would let my local dealer experiment on replacing a half dozen or so before taking mine in.

ive got 600 slow Covid miles on mine so not in a big hurry.

You'd think with the 991.2 history, they'd of made the proper changes to avoid it in the 992.

Well that is alarming... do you have info on the recall? What was the build date?

I agree, with all the tweaks Porsche did to the newer engine, this should have been at the top of the list.

That is especially alarming to me since one of the very few issues I had with my 2004 TT was the water pump!! Good grief, Charlie Brown I think you've had enough time to get this straightened out by now.

Well, my car has been to the dealer on two occasions where they checked the recalls, and this wasn't mentioned... but I will call them tomorrow and re-confirm. Seems odd that it wouldn't affect all cars across the board tho as it's more or less the same engine... Would really like the nuts and bolts (dirty details) of this failure and what causes it.

Sam, just an FYI ... when I said Charlie Brown, I meant Porsche, not you. I am very anxious to find out what they tell you so thanks in advance.
