Two weeks - initial impressions
It’s been two weeks since she came home, so thought I’d share my impressions for anyone interested. Take ‘em for what they’re worth. They’re mine, and they’re based on limited miles.
The drive:
Here’s a few shots. Thanks for reading. Stay safe and be well.
The drive:
- Just awesome. Faster than I’ll ever need or want.
- Handles better than anything I’ve ever driven.
- Particularly impressed with the steering and the way it just goes exactly where it’s pointed, regardless of speed. It’s taken me a bit to “trust” it, but when I do, it rewards.
- As expected, PDK is smooth on the ups and downs, haven’t noticed any hiccups or surprise shifts.
- Suspension feels really nice to my tastes. Great road feel. Mostly driving in sport/sport. Feels like a high-performance luxury sports car should feel.
- Braking is great. Although I haven’t really tested those limits yet. I tend to judge these things by how little I notice them, and to me, the brakes just do what they’re supposed to, when they’re supposed to.
- Pirelli’s just fine. I prefer Michelins, but they’ll do until I need new ones.
- Haven’t gotten a chance to try wet mode since it’s been mostly sunny and dry here.
- Haven’t really pushed her that hard as I’m breaking in somewhat cautiously, but quite a ride so far.
- Inside and out, it is just lovely.
- Classic and timeless styling with the right modern touches.
- Sure, I could find quibbles if I tried, but when I walk in the garage I smile, when I sit in the cockpit, I smile. When I see it from different angles, I smile.
- It’s a beautiful car. But you know that.
- None of the “little” things I read about prior to taking delivery bother me (or have reared their heads yet).
- The shifter is just fine. Does what it’s supposed to. A nonfactor.
- The PCM works great for me. Easy to set up and navigate through.
- Homelink set up the first time no problem, and the GPS pops it up as soon as I turn into my driveway. Sure, a hard button would be better, but it’s fine the way it is.
- Easy to go back and forth from PCM to wireless carplay. Could be more seamless, but it works well.
- Yeah, wireless charging is noticeably absent. I put a slim QI charger in the space where it should be and lie to myself that it was built in
- Comfort access working as it should, no door handle issues. Haven’t had to think twice about it.
- 14 ways seats are comfortable and fit me well. I imagine they’ll get more comfy as time goes by.
- Bose is good. Not great, but good. I’ve had better systems in the past, and I’ve had worse. No rattling/buzzing issues. But I find myself listening to the engine and exhaust more than anything.
- All the cameras and assistance stuff seems good and up to standards. Haven’t dug too deep, but again, I tend to judge that stuff by how intuitive it is and how little I have to interface with it, and so far, so good.
- Glad I got the glass sunroof. Even though I’ve only opened it once, it gives the cabin a nice airy feel opens the whole thing up for me.
- Also glad I got FAL. Only used it once so far, but was glad to have it.
- Silly placement of the outer two dials on the instrument cluster, not sure where I would have put 'em but the one mild gripe I've got.
Here’s a few shots. Thanks for reading. Stay safe and be well.

I'm at about the same, time & milage-wise. Concur it is an amazing piece of engineering in virtually every aspect. One does need to be careful with the interior door release handles. The design allows for pinching if not paying attention. I've never had to focus so much when opening a door . . .

its amazing how those orange markers are somehow visually offensive to me on the 992. They never bothered me as much on prior gen cars but for the cost this is a must-do on the 992.
Car looks great though. Glad you are enjoying.

What I find works best is to just pull and release the interior door handle without trying to open the door at the same time--the door will then pop out and then all you need to do is push it open. Trying to pull the release while pushing the door to open is when I find that I am subject to finger pinching.
