6-Way Driver Seat -inc: Manual Fore/Aft Movement
#2
My wife's 997 has manual fore/aft adjusting, and my Macan, along with my most recent 911s, has electric adjustments. For me, the major advantage of the electric adjustment is the infinite number of fore/aft settings. I'm short, and I find I can't get the manual seat set at a perfect distance - very close, but not quite perfect.

I have the manual adjustable seats with club leather. They are phenomenal. Downside is passenger laugh when you tell them to reach under and pull the handle to adjust their seat. Also I believe in order to get power folding mirrors you might need the memory seat package which requires you to have motorized seats.
I don’t miss any of it one bit. Very supportive and I find I can get positioned exactly how I want with the manual option.

Do the manual seats sit lower? I'm pretty comfortable in my car with 14 way seats, but I'm just curious. I'm 6'6" and I special ordered two models of BMW M3's in the past with manual seats and no moonroofs just so I could get as much headroom as possible. And my first Porsche was a cabriolet 996 because I couldn't sit in the coupe. I'm very thankful that Porsche now seems to do their best to maximize headroom in 911's so almost anyone can fit in them comfortably.

not sure aksteve. I’m about a foot shorter than you so ceiling heights never been a problem for me : )
I came from an e92 and f80 and compared to those the 992 feed like old sitting on the road. The manual seats certainly aren’t higher than the powered ones but I can’t say for sure if they’re lower.

I went with the sports + seats with the manual fore aft movement.
Moving the seat manually is really fun, simple to do and you can do it very quickly. Also you're saving thousands of dollars compared to the more expensive sports plus (18 ways).
I'm a big, big fan of them and feel like the level of adjustability for me is not an issue.
There is one ******HUGE******* problem, though. I had absolutely no clue that my passenger mirror won't tilt when I'm parking if I didn't get the more expensive seats. In my BMW M4, parallel parking was such a breeze and with my 911 it drives me nuts that my damn mirror won't tilt so I can see what I'm doing easier (it doesn't help that the back-up camera is kinda bad too)

Agreed, it completely blindsided me and I was baffled that I missed that... I mean I spent months configuring my car and somehow I never noticed it. Drives me nuts because I would just optioned the 18-ways if I had known and dished out the extra 3k or whatever it is. The tilting mirror is sooooo important to me.

Don't you have to set the mirror up to tilt anyways? I think you have to put the car in reverse, set the mirror how you want it and then it'll remember it the next time you put the car into reverse. I'm willing to bet more than 90% of owner's will never even know the mirror tilts unless someone explains this to them.

I tried setting both mirrors, but realized only the passenger side dips... oops
PS: don't put the car in reverse, set passenger mirror & hold the memory save button.
