Talking to my dealer today, right now they aren’t getting hardly any 2021 allocations - no 4S’s, 1 S, and 3-4 base. Not sure about Targa allocations. I could see it being harder to large discounts on 2021s.

Probably partly true, Porsche has demonstrated the ability to rationalize production to demand during leaner times. But I'd wager on it being mostly dealer embellishment to maintain a semblance of price control.

I was told the same thing by my SA. I already have a car on order, so not sure if that’s true. My SA said that inventory was drying up, and I can imagine that’s true since we went months without deliveries from the motherland.

When I ordered my Targa last week, I just asked for their best price and received a 5% discount. I'm pretty happy with that, considering the dealer doesn't even have allocations yet.

I've been watching local inventory. In Mid March there were 181 992's, Reached a peak of 281 by late April, holding at around 250 for awhile. There were a few spikes that you could see where shipments had arrived. I can't imagine a dealer or porsche wants to make it easy for the 2021's with so many 2020's on the lot and on the way.

Used car prices have recovered to pre-pandemic levels.
If I had to guess, I suspect dealers are going to be less willing to discount now relative to a month ago and we are past the peak for discounts. .
Of course, this would be a healthy sign for all of us in the big picture.

Now that people's investment accounts and 401ks are in positive territory, the days of deep discount may be numbered.

Are you looking to order or buy off the lot?
Email blast every dealer in your area. I think 10% is going to be tough to pull off now, especially for ordered vehicles; Porsche is really constraining allocations on all 911 models right now due to the uncertainty of the global markets. A high volume dealer here in the Bay Area literally has 2 S allocations for the rest of the year...your best bet is to find something thats pretty close to what you would order. You might need to broaden your search out of state for that though.

Unless you plan to get one off the lot, dealers just don't have enough allocations right now. My dealer only gets one 911 the next 4 months, mine. I got my discount before the dealer knew their allocations for this year. Call around, including out of state dealers, but be prepared to get a smaller discount or wait to see how things look in 2021.
