Default 992 C2S dealer demo - deal or no deal?

My local dealer has a 2020 911 C2S with about 750 miles on it. It is a 4/19 launch car and recently changed from "new" to CPO. It's a nice build and I have test driven it and really like it. Should I be leery of buying a demo car? Launch car? Any thoughts?

You can expect that as a demo car it was run hard on XX occasions without fluids fully up to temperature. That would be more of a potential concern if you intend to keep the car past warranty than if it's a short-term ride. But with CPO warranty you'd be covered for any issues until 2025 or 2016.

It might well have been launched a number of times. You should see if there is any way to check how many times the launch feature has been used. That is what I would be most concerned with.

What is a "launch car"? Anything different about them?

It's just one of the first cars off the manufacturing line for the new year. So it was manufactured in April 2019 and one of the first cars imported into the U.S. So it was built before they figured out any glitches, issues, etc. Later builds often work out some of the kinks with a new model.

Unless they are offering a massive discount (15-20%) off MSRP I'd pass.

Tons of brand new cars on lots right now and they should all be available at a discount.

That’s all depends on price.
What discount they offer to you?

Have not talked price yet. Started at 139k now at 129k. Would definitely need to come far off that. Not even 10% down from original.

The issue is there’s not many of these cars on lots. CPO warranty is better than new and 750 miles is nominal. $126-129 would be a decent deal.

Yeah, I agree. $10,000 is chump change. Need at least $40,000 off MSRP to make it make sense.........then it's more fair. Still not great, but more-so.

lol. You can’t seriously think you could get $40k off a CPO MY 2020 911 with 750 miles. Make an offer like that in person at a dealer (if they were open) and the SA might get a laughter-induced hernia.

Whoaaaa. Hold up. You seriously think you could walk into the dealership and offer up $40k off a $139k car with 750 miles on it, full factory warranty remaining AND another 2 years of CPO on top of that? I'm not sure what world you live in, but I want to be a part of that world! OP, if you can get that car for $99k, buy it immediately or, if you pass, PLEASE let me know where to show up with my wallet at.

I'm hoping y'all got a chuckle out of it. I'm a SA lol. I just find it funny when $10,000 just isn't enough money off something and there needs to be "far off" that. When shopping for $129,000/$139,000 cars, what is $10,000 aside from $150/month more in payment. These days you aren't buying in cash with money being cheap so you're just negotiating a payment really. You're likely not going to keep this more than the CPO period on something like this, so down the road 4-5 years are you going to really care what you paid for the thing? It's only going down in value and quite frankly, hard. C'mon now....back to the peanut gallery.

Since you are a SA, why not try to help a forum member out and give some positive guidance on what they should realistically expect instead of building up drama? Just a perspective from a member of the "peanut gallery".
