Where are you located?
Is the dealership "closed"?
Who is responsible for the car while it's on the flatbed? Here's why I ask- https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1185...to-handle.html

Wear a mask, and go get your car. Have them unwrap it (maybe even wash it) so they can inspect the panels under the shipping film. You don't want that responsibility going back on you. Then get the car over to your detailer and PPF guy when convenient.

This. So far I've told my dealer to at least wash the car by hand and confirm what's involved in the "prep" stage. Although it would be fun to unwrap the car myself, I obviously don't want to do anything that the dealer can do better than I can.

According to my dealer:
By prepping the car, we take the car out of delivery transport mode. Scan the car with the computer and check the tire pressures and fluid levels. We then take it quickly on a test drive to get gas.

Definitely not skipping the prep stage! Not sure why it was even mentioned by my dealer as an optional step. But will skip the detailing offer and just have them wash it by hand.

I "picked up" mine yesterday from the dealer. They unwrapped it and washed it and that's it. It then went into a covered trailer of the detail place to get the ppf. Never have I done this before. I handed in my 2013 Boxster S and now I just have an empty garage bay. Should actually get the car for real next week!

I also told my dealer to just prep and wash it. Hoping to also do paint protection, ceramic coating, and partial PPF soon. I can't just send it to a shop and wait another week minutes after taking delivery.

The general rule is that once the new owner-to-be has signed the sales contract, they own the car and any in-transit damage is between them and their insurance company. If they are lucky, their insurance company will allow them to subrogate the claim and their insurance company will work with the transporter's insurance company.

Personally, I would do a social distancing signing at the dealer where I could inspect the car before signing the sales contract and taking delivery. It is no big deal to do virtual hand shakes and keep a 6' separation distance. In addition to a mask, bring a set of nitrile exam gloves and sign all documents outdoors where the surfaces are exposed to UV radiation from the Sun.

Guess this is now the norm, or at least during this COVID-19 lockdown/stay-at-home period.
My SA drove mine himself to my place, not a flatbed.
I really love those eyes of 992 and Yamaha bike. They are very distinctive.

Your car looks great. I can't tell from the pictures but did you pick the steel sunroof? Is that the design package front end? Nice colour!

Thanks! Already have the side markers on order as well as the third brake light. Both are on special order so may have to wait a little bit to receive it.
