I hear this a lot from financial advisors who make money on my money. If i had followed this advice, I would not have much of a retirement. Fortunately, I follow my own path and make far better returns than any good portfolio strategy or the S&P 500. And this includes the 2000 dot com bubble and the 2008 financial crisis. For those who are risk averse, have it your way. Not everyone needs to follow the same drummer and not all portfolio strategies are good for everyone. So, do what you think best for yourself and others will find their own path.
