The latest thing I read was that the blood pressure medicine (Lisinopril) that I take makes the infection much worse. Something about how it changes the shape of your blood cells, making it easier to get a bad infection. And then in the comments to the article about this, everyone says that this info sounds wrong and that the medicine should make it harder to get infected. Like I wasn't stressed out enough already.
Not quite. The theory is that the virus uses the ACE2 protein in the cells of the lung to attach and invade. ACE inhibitors like lisinopril theoretically increase these receptors in the lung, making it more likely that the COVID 19 virus can attach and grow. Thus, if you replace it with another anti-hypertensive drug, you may be less suspectible. Mind you, this is only a theory. Thus the confusion.
However, there are currently trials ongoing in China and South Korea of an old anti-malarial drug (hydroxychloroquine) that blocks ACE2 expression in the lung. Early rumors are that this may work as treatment of COVID 19 pneumonia, and we can only hope that when these results are released in a few weeks we can have some hope here for those affected.
I haven't ordered a car but was planning to buy a 992 or Spyder during the next couple of months. After the stock market collapse and the pandemonium I saw at Costco this weekend I'm sitting tight for now. Suddenly a new car doesn't seem urgent.
Cancelled my order for a 992 Turbo S on Friday after having lost (way) more than its retail price in the recent two weeks thanks to the stock market crash. I‘ll keep my 992 Carrera S though
you should cancel if you feel it may pose financial risk to you. If not then you should be ok
Great response.

I think many of us are in the same position. Six weeks ago, I was debating about the $75k to upgrade my 718S (first Porsche) to a 992S even though it was a complete non-issue financially (I'm on the frugal side). Since then, it seems like my brokerage account and 403b are flushing a GT3 down the toilet every day. Suddenly sitting tight makes sense. I do think that the monetary policy adjustments by the Fed will result in a either a big bounce or gradual recovery starting 3-4 months down the road after Covid runs its course. I'm at the point in life (59) where I don't finance things, especially depreciating assets like a car. However, there might be a sweet spot when it makes sense to borrow at historically low rates and invest the money in the market. My statement that I think this will pass in a couple of months comes from expertise (doc/healthcare administrator). My financial forecast doesn't - I'd be interested what any finance experts here think about my optimism for market recovery.
The pandemic is an odd circumstance, because once the critical stage and panic have passed, there will be quick snap back of demand and the economic recovery with it. I have to say that I am really looking forward to being at that point, because everyday just sucks right now. Be safe out there!

In law school, we learned about an "Act of God" exception for contracts and liability in Anglo -American law. It has long been accepted as a defense to a claim on a contract.
This is tough, ....I am a man of my word, but this situation gots me thinking.....
I am not ordering a 992 (I was thinking about it) but I can share my perspective. When I was finalizing my 991.2 4s order in 2017, the dealer had a loaded C4S in the showroom with a sticker of 160k. The prospective buyer, I was told, had bailed forfeiting the 5k deposit. The sales manager sounded pissed.
In the current very uncertain economic environment, there is no way would I order a new 911. Just me. I see a hard and long slog for recovery and don’t need unnecessary large ticket expenditures. I guess depends how much of a cushion one has and the
desire for a toy.

And how long you plan on keeping it. I got a killer deal on a new 997 back in 2009, kept and drove it every day for 5 years.

I was thinking keeping it for 4 years until warranty is up (2021) and ordering a MY 2021. Now, I have ruled that out. Will re-evaluate later. My 2.5 year old C4S has been perfect so that is another consideration.
