Yes. I think that’s normal especially in the first 1000 miles. I will let others chime in as to why there is a smell.

Yes. That's the Porsche smell. It means you're driving it right.

The loaner 4s I had also had a bit of a burning smell. Close to 6k miles on it.

Agreed. I've experienced it in every Porsche I've driven hard.

Funny that this just came up. I picked up my C2S yesterday and when I got home and walked around the back of the car I smelled that familiar scent. IMHO it's really not a burning smell so much as the smell of hot metal, but definitely Porsche.

I seem to recall it was related to the coating they put on the cars (engines and metal parts specifically?) for protection during transportation, and that it took a while for that to "burn off". But perhaps I am misremembering :-)

My #1 favorite smell in the world ... hot, hard driven p-car. If you don’t smell it you’re not driving it right 😀😀. Someone should make a room freshener with that smell.

All Porsches I've owned emit a smell when driven hard like a tar/oil mixture hitting hot metal.

Have nearly 10k on my '19 911 and have never smelled anything out of the engine bay. I do cool mine off before I put it in the garage, the temps are normal when I shut down.

The only scent is the leather smell from the interior.
