A friend bought a 997 when they first came out and only kept it a year, and basically stopped driving it after six months because it was too loud and wasn't comfortable. I think he was expecting a Mercedes ride with great performance and an iconic look, and when he discovered a 911 is not that, he sold it. I think it's great he realized what he wants in a car rather than sticking with something that doesn't satisfy him.

Personally I like loud, and the compliance of the suspension should be driven by whether or not it handles better :-)

so I took my tire pressure down to the comfort number.... WOW, what a difference .. not that I hated it before, but now there is absolutely nothing to complain about at all.

Are you now running 29 psi front and 32 psi rear for part load?

The ONLY downside I can surmise of adjusting to comfort (vs. standard) tire pressures - it limits your top speed to ~160mph from ~200mph. This of course comes into play for me once in a while in DFW's empty HOV lanes, but generally 160 is good enough. No brainer.

So air pressure is monitored and controls the speed? Or is this something you do the ole fashioned way?

Inquiring minds might also like to know that while psi/bar (obviously) varies with barometric pressure, a generally accepted "average" value is 14.5.

Therefore: 2.4 bar =~35psi & 2.9 bar =~42psi

The owner's manual equates 29/32 psi to 2.0/2.2 bar which matches you 14.5 conversion factor. 35/42 psi are not comfort tire pressures, even for full load.
