I would have guessed a 75/25 split. Doesn’t appear that the actual number is far off.

I just don't get the 4/4S decision except in nanook-of-the north weather environments. To take one of the most 'fun' cars to be had as a DD, and then to dial down the fun from 11 to 9...I just don't understand. (I get it once you get to TT/TTS HP levels, but not C4/C4S!). Oh well, opinions are like belly buttons.

Running a 911 with "verve" on snow and ice...whether a 2 or a 4...ratchets the fun back up to 12. Sadly, 95%+ of 911s will never see ice and snow on a regular basis (ours will). Tougher to make a C2 or C2S a true 365 DD where snow and ice are common, while a C4 or C4S (especially without Sport Design front) can be used any day, any road, any weather.

Before this gen, if you wanted a wide body you had to get a 4S, GTS or Turbo (excluding GT cars). That alone, I'm sure, drove sales for the 4S. It's the primary reason I went for a 993 C4S. I wanted that big 4S ***.

Now all the cars are wide body, so the 4S is missing just a little of the exclusively it used to have - not to mention the rear lights are the same (previously the 4S had unique lights, at least on the water cooled cars).

Oh, I am very happy with my purchase. The car delivers superior traction/grip in all conditions -- wet or dry, straight or turns.
Porsche has a long history of AWD in its top performance cars, 959, 918, 919, and every modern Turbo/Turbo S.
The 992 C4S carries on the tradition.

The 2S is a great car, but it's not a "greater" car than the 4S. Having driven both RWD and AWD 911s, they're two different experiences. While I do think that the 4S delivers quantifiable performance advantages over the 2S, that doesn't make the 2S any less of a car.

Randy Pobst is an amazing driver and excellent tester. He's also a great guy and loves the 992 -- a big fan of this generation.

It's going to be interesting how it affects sales. When Subaru made the WRXs widebody like the STI, it negatively impacted STI sales, because the premium for the STI seemed less worth it.
On that note, some reviewers have already criticized Porsche keeping the same basic premium for the 4S despite the absence of those cosmetic differences. Heck, you now get the widebody and taillight on a Base Carrera.

Nonsense

Randy elected the 991 4S on track over the 991 2S because the latter vague front footprint

now that they have solved in the 992 platform that vagueness, all reviewers, not just Randy, agree that the extra weight extra cost for the 4S is worthless, the planted 992 2S deliver a better "911" drive feeling

If that makes you feel better about your 2S purchase, knock yourself out.

I don’t understand the hostility. I’d say “get a grip”, but if you’re insisting that the 2S is the superior 992 and that the premium for a 4S is “worthless”, you obviously don’t care that much about grip. 😜

I test drove both and went with the 2S without hesitation. I really wanted to like the AWD system, but the sense of control was very noticeable. My sales guy was advocating 2S and after watching & reading numerous 992 reviews that discussed the options, not one recommended 4S over 2S. Beside the fact I live in a warm climate with no chance of snow, saving $7K was a bonus.

You have driven both models in all conditions?

You don't understand the hostility? Maybe it's because you blew off his assessment with a one-word "Nonsense" response? Just a wild guess, of course.
