Do you believe that the 992 mirror will be as easy to tap as shown in the video?

If so, why would I buy one of those cable kits with all of the various pins?

What is the correct cable to use when tapping INTO the mirror as opposed to sticking pins in the back?

I paid too much for my Uniden R7 - I wanted it to be easily removable to deter a smash and grab.
So I bought this magnetic base that sits on the dash:
Amazon Amazon
I can pull it down and out of sight quickly - the only problem is that it will fly away if I mash the throttle.

Just got the Uniden R7 installed on my 992 (with the Blendmount). The shop tried to use the Blendmount cable, but it didn't work with the mirror. So they ended up having to get a line from the Fuse box. For those interested it only cost $80 for the install (they charged another $125 for the mount and $25 for the cable).

That looks very nice and the prices are actually very good as well. Nicely done!

No. When they initially contacted Blendmount about the cable and they said there should be pins. But when they checked the mirrors in the shop they didn't find any. So they had to run the wire to the fuse box.

Do you have any tips or photos regarding the "fuse box" connection?

Colorado is just a tad too far to go for an install!

My installer went to the fuse box as well. Took about 45 minutes and I'm sure that any capable installer can do this in their sleep!

No, I don't think it's too bad. I had a V1 a while back and it was similar in shape (although I think the V1 was a little smaller). I ended up going with the R7 because of the features and consistent firmware updates.

BTW Uniden just released 1.29 with a lot of changes… https://www.vortexradar.com/2020/01/...f-new-changes/

ever since I went to 1.29 my red-light camera detection went to crap... I called yesterday and they told me the most recent "supported" firmware is 1.24... I got 1.29 3 weeks ago thru Vortex...
