Default Battery Tender issues

Question- Have a Ctek battery tender. Seemed to be ok for the first day but then it seems like it turns off and isn't charging the battery anymore. I am using it through the 12v port inside the car. I read somewhere the car goes into sleep mode after a while.

Any tips or resolution?

Thanks

The 12V port in the car automatically shuts off after a half hour. If you are hooking up a battery, I would recommend connecting leads and the quick disconnect to the battery itself under the hood. I don't have this setup on my Porsche as its driven year round, but have used it on my other cars. Someone with it connected could probably post a picture.

I know this is an option but in NY the weather has been dicey, freezing where I'd want to store the car and then all of a sudden warm and sunny and prime for driving. I want to have the flexibility to just pull the plug and go. The porsche branded battery tender comes with the 12v adapter so it must be possible to use long term.

Either go to the battery direct as already recommended or lock your doors after plugging in the charger. This will keep the car from going in sleep mode and shutting down the port.

I do lock the doors...doesn't seem to be the solution

Only leaves one option then. Locking the doors recommendation I thought was in the owner's manual.

I have been using the Battery Tender brand for over three years thru the 12V port inside my 991.2 2017. A few days to a few weeks and never have had the power shut off to the tender.

I had the same experience with my 991.2. But it has been a whole difference story with the 992 with lithium battery. It goes off line within 10 minutes or so with doors unlocked, using either the 12v port or directly connected to battery. Upon locking the doors, it remains maintaining/charging much longer, perhaps a day so, but eventually goes off line. However, the power supply light remains a constant green, but no indication of battery status. In my 991.2 the battery status was always indicated.

Is your Ctek charger made for lithium batteries? I had a problem using my old 991.1 ctek charger on my 991.2 GT3. Bought a new one that was made for lithium batteries.

Bump, I have this issue in my 2024 TTS using the battery contact points under the frunk. Anyone who solved this issue?

Another charger/CTEK question for the experts-I have CTEK quickconnect 56-629 cable hardwired to battery positive and battery strap nut for ground. All seems good with charger going through 8 (?) step charging progression just fine. However, the lights on the 56-629 seem to be flashing 3 times faster than normal If charger is disconnected, lights immediately turn amber and flash 3 times faster than normal. Inclined not to worry about it as long as charger says it’s charging but curious if anyone has explanation for rapid flashing?

I think mine does that too if I disconnect it from the car, but keep the charger plugged into the outlet. I’ll have to check.

I left a period out-mine flashes much faster than normal when connected to charger (flashing green) and has the same rapid flashing when disconnected from charger but flashing amber/red.

Now it makes sense. I don’t use the comfort quick connect with the LED’s so I can’t help you on this one. I use the basic quick connect and my CTEK charger is always visible since it’s right next to my front passenger side wheel.
